The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomfeatures multiple areas that Link cannot reach using typical traversal mechanics. Luckily, with the game’s new Ultrahand and Fuse mechanics, he can find incredibly creative ways to reach these remote destinations. One of the best examples of this is Eventide Island, which served a similar function inTears of the Kingdom’s predecessor,Breath of the Wild, and provides the perfect chance for Link to use is new abilities here.

Eventide Island is a large landmass off the southeastern coast of Hyrule. InBreath of the Wild, the island served as a special proving ground for Link, similar to the “Proving Grounds” shrines inTears of the Kingdom.Eventide Island provides a much different challenge here, providing Link with a series of combat encounters on all three levels of the map. This guide will explore exactly how to reach the island, and what awaits Link when he arrives.

How to Get to Eventide Island in Tears of the Kingdom

As Eventide Island sits off the southeastern coast of Hyrule, Link must first cross a large chunk of the map before attempting to reach the remote island. While there are technically no requirements that Link must meet in order to reach the island, there are some practical considerations Link will want to think about while preparing for this adventure.

First, Link will want to get all four of his core abilities: Ultrahand, Fuse, Recall, and Ascend. This is all done on the Great Sky Island. Second, he will want toget the paraglider from Purahat Lookout Landing. This is basically all Link will need to get to Eventide Island. Another helpful tool, though not essential, is the Autobuild ability, which Link can acquire at the Great Abandoned Central Mine in the Depths. This will allow Link to save the designs of everything he’s built, calling it up later whenever he needs them. It will even craft these designs from nothing, using Zonaite to replace missing devices.

While it is not required to complete the task, using theRabella Wetlands Skyview Towerto reveal the southeastern portion of the sky and surface is recommended. Having the map as a visual aid is hugely beneficial.

Once Link is prepared to cross, there are two locations that serve as a launching point: Cape Cales and Soka Point. Which one Link leaves from depends on his method of crossing.

How to Reach Eventide Island from Cape Cales

Capes Cales is a high point located just north of Soka Point. This location is the perfect launching point for those looking to reach Eventide Island by air. The first time Link visits the high point at Cape Cales, he’ll find a Korok looking to reach his friend on Eventide Island, giving Link an added benefit to launching here.

Paragliding from Cape Cales:

If Link wants to use the paraglider to reach Eventide Island, Cape Cales is the place to launch from. With the Vow of Tulin, Link can easily make the jump, using a little over two rings of stamina in the process. Without Tulin, Link will fall just short after using about one and a half rings of stamina. He will be close enough to swim to the rocks just off the coast, but make sure to bring stamina-replenishing elixirs or meals just in case.

Flying Machine from Cape Cales:

If Link possesses the Autobuild ability, make sure to create a flying machine blueprint before heading to Cape Cales. The perfect design is known as the Hover Bike, which requires only two fans and a steering stick. Link can then use Zonai capsules to craft this at Cape Cales, or allow Autobuild to craft it for 9 Zonaite.

Using the Hover Bike, or any flying device the player decides on, is probably the easiest way to reach Eventide Island. The Hover Bike will allow Link to descend by pushing forward on the steering stick, making it - or other similarly designed machine - the best choice for the air.

How to Reach Eventide Island from Soka Point:

When Link first makes his way out to Soka Point, which sits at the tip of the Cape Cresia peninsula, he will notice it is much more heavily defended than Cape Cales.

There will be a Boss Bokoblin and his trail of regular Bokoblins, with the level depending on Link’s progression. However, once they are taken out, Link will find a great deal of crafting materials that Link can use to make a raft or boat.

Creating A Raft/Boat to Reach Eventide Island from Soka Point:

Link can make a perfectly capable raft with the materials he’ll find scattered along the shore at Soka Point. The image above shows a simple raft made exclusively fromZonai devices found on the beach. There are several variations Link can make on this design, however, using a steering stick is highly recommended. This will allow Link to have much more control over the craft while heading towards the island.

What to Do on Eventide Island in Tears of the Kingdom

Seeking the Pirates Hideout:

When Link first lands on Eventide Island, players will likely notice a small campsite inhabited by a member of the monster control team named Sesami (Found at 4515, -3502, 0001). He informs Link that the island has become a haven for pirates, and that even though he knows he should be fighting them, he can’t. Link, being the Hero he is, agrees to undertake this task.

Sesami explains to Link that there are three pirate camps on the island, but none are the main hideout. Sesami asks Link to clear the three camps before anything else. Each camp uses the “Monster Forces” mechanic, where each enemy killed lowers an overall ‘Healthbar.’

Camp 1(4582, -3520, 0065): The first camp is found not far from Sesami’s camp. It is a tall, wooden structure that has enemies on multiple levels.

Camp 2(4648, -3739, 0057): The second camp is located on top of Koholit Rock. It can easily be seen from the top of Camp 1. Link can use Ascend at several locations to make quick work of reaching the top.

Camp 3(4475, -3738, 0034): If Link heads to the western edge of Koholit Rock, he can see Camp 3 in the distance. It is a heavily fortified camp that sits on top of a small hill. There is a well-guarded path marked with skulls that Link can take up, or he can use a rocket-shield

Pirate Hideout and Marari-in Shrine(4636, -3714, 0018): After finishing all three camps, Link will return to Sesami. As they talk, they’ll see a pirate ship begin to head around Koholit Rock, and then suddenly disappear. When Link goes to investigate, he’ll find the entrance to Eventide Island Cave on the back side of the rock.

Link will find another Monster Force hiding inside the cave, mostly on a large pirate ship. Once Link clears the enemies out, he’ll be able to access Marari-in Shrine. From the rear of the ship, fuse together wooden planks to cross the gap. The shrine is essentially Link’s only real reward here on the island. Once all is complete, return to Sesami to complete the quest.

Mimo and Mr. Branli’s Test Flights

At the very top of Koholit Rock, Link will find Mimo the Rito, and Mr. Branli. They are investigating the Zonai wings that have recently fallen from the sky. They would like Link to be a test subject, and take the wing for a spin.

Link is shown a massive target out in the ocean. The goal is to land as close to the center as possible, with Link’s reward increasing the closer he gets. In this instance, Link received 100 rupees for landing 7 meters from the center.

What is Above and Below Eventide Island?

Eventide Island features the only entrance to the section of the Depths found beneath the island. Found on the northern tip of the island, Link can dive in to find the Lone Island Coliseum, which is one of the easier coliseums inTears of the Kingdom.Link will fight several gloom-enhanced Bokoblins and receive Midna’s Helmet as a reward.

In the air above Eventide Island, Link will find a large battle arena featuring a King Gleeok. Link will be rewardedwith a single Sage’s Will, one ofTears of the Kingdom’s unique upgrade materials. Link can use the Hover Bike to reach the platform from Cape Cales, though he may need to bring plenty of Zonai charges if he does not have maximum battery levels. It’s also possible to reach from the southern end of the Necluda Sky Archipelago. The distance is greater, but Link won’t have to ascend nearly as far.
