A new update toThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s official page has seemingly revealed a change in the game’s file size, just weeks before its expected launch. The newest entry in the storiedZeldafranchise has been one of the most highly-anticipated games on the Switch since it was first teased in 2019. In recent months, the game has received numerous trailers, both revealingnew mechanics like Fuseand changes to Hyrule. Now, more detailed information about the game’s download has been revealed.

Trailers and previews for the game have already revealed plenty of new features coming withThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Alongside the previously mentioned Fuse,Tears of the Kingdomwill feature new tools for traversing the terrain suspended in the skies of Hyrule. A recent preview event also seemingly teased the return of a fan-favorite feature from past games with dungeons set to return after being largely absent inBreath of the Wild. Now, fans have a better idea of how much spaceTears of the Kingdomwill need.

An update toTears of the Kingdom’s page on Nintendo’s website shows the surprise change to the game’s file size. WhereasTears of the Kingdomwas previously believed to be 18 GB, new listings for the game both on the official website and the eShop place the game at 15.9 GB. The game does still register at a larger file size than its predecessor withZelda: Breath of the Wildrequiring 14.4 GB of storage space. The smaller file size forTears of the Kingdomstill holds the record forNintendo’s largest first-party gameon the Switch.

WhileTears of the Kingdomis not set to officially debut until mid-May, rumors have already reported physical copies of the game may have been found. SeveralZeldafans have already posted to social media claiming to havereceived their copies ofTears of the Kingdomearly, with some of the game’s Collector’s Editions even surfacing. The accidental early shipments would not be the first time a similar issue has plagued Nintendo, with high-profile games likeXenoblade Chronicles 3andSplatoon 3leaking early copies.

With just under two weeks remaining untilTears of the Kingdom’s launch, many are already placing the game as an early frontrunner for Game of the Year. Nintendo has begun to tease elements ofTears of the Kingdom’s early story, revealing the game’s beginning with Link on the sky islands hovering above Hyrule.Tears of the Kingdomalready has multiple awardsunder its belt, including Most Anticipated Game at the 2022 Game Awards. Excitement is at a fever pitch with the newestZeldaadventure close at hand.
