The headlining act of these new activities are Dreamsurges. Each week, one of the four original zones of the Dragon Isles will be affected by a Dreamsurge, coated in magic reminiscent of theGreen Dragonflight ofWorld of Warcraft. During that time, all players in the zone will be affected by the Dreaming Winds buff, granting them a 25% experience boost while questing there. This will make raising characters from level 60 to 70 much easier.
Were that not enough, players in these regions also gain special buffs giving them an advantage while fighting in the zone. Every 30 minutes, everyone in the Dreamsurge area will get to vote on one of two special buffs all players will benefit from, such as a defensive summon or a bonus to Nature damage. Additionally, they can gather anewWorld of Warcraftcurrencycalled Dreamsurge Coalescence from completing special event objectives in the zone–or from looting certain items or Dream-empowered rare spawns–that can be turned in for powerful catch-up gear for level 70 characters.
During a Dreamsurge, Waking Dream portals will occasionally open throughout the area which spawn Druids of the Flame. Theiconic villains fromWorld of Warcraft: Cataclysmare back, and players can fend them off by killing mobs, destroying altars, or Dragonriding through aerial targets. Doing this spawns a Flame Lieutenant who drops more Dreamsurge Coalescence, a Shadowflame Crest, other catch-up gear, and items used to make a new fiery mammoth mount.
Fury Incarnate is definitely setting upWorld of Warcraftfor Patch 10.2. The second major content update forDragonflightdoesn’t have a name yet, but if the theme of Patch 10.1.7 is any indication, players can be certain it will involve the Emerald Dream andWorld of Warcraft’s new World Tree.
