Though the race to claim the world first was a six-day affair, most of the contending teams spent the first couple of days in Heroic difficulty gathering gear and items needed to take on the raid on Mythic difficulty. Over the weekend, three guilds were tied for first place as each of them cleared eight of the raid’s nine bosses. However, the tie was broken by a North American guild just one day before the weekly server reset.RELATED:World of Warcraft: Official Hardcore Realms Coming to Classic WoW SoonIn a close race, Team Liquid claimed the world’s first clear of Scalecommander Sarkareth ahead of European guilds Echo and Method, with thousands ofWorld of Warcraftplayers witnessing live coverage of the race on Twitch. According to one of Liquid’s members, an arcane mage named Maximum, the guild spent the first two raid days figuring outthe new gearing upgrade systemsthat arrived inEmbers of Neltharion, so they were not able to claim the world’s first kills of four of the raid’s bosses. However, starting with Rashok the Elder, Liquid went on a five-boss streak for the rest of the race.
