Now that aWonder Womangame is officially on the way, people are looking to fill in the blanks on what the game might entail. The superhero title was announced atthis year’s The Game Awards, but there isn’t a ton known about it beyond that. One big thing that haven’t been spelled out is who the Amazon warrior will be fighting against. All that’s really known is it’s expected to be open world and there will be a similar battle system to theLord of the Rings: Middle-earthgames.

The Nemesis system by developer Monolith seems perfectly fit for a superhero game, and it’s interesting that a version of it hasn’t been used in any of the other superhero games that came beforeWonder Woman. Because that system is going to be included in the title, there’s a few guesses that can be made about just who would be the best fit when it comes to villains Diana will face.

Doctor Psycho

One of the mostinteresting things about Monolith’s Nemesis systemis that it’s built for multiple enemies and encounters with those enemies. Instead of having big boss fights against one character or another, players can have several different skirmishes against baddies as the game goes on. Someone like Doctor Psycho could be well suited for this mechanic because he’s not necessarily someone who will be able to go toe-to-toe with Princess Diana for long bouts. Instead, several smaller fights where he’s leading a pack of henchmen or hurling things using his mental powers would make sense. The idea that he might turn tail and run only to fight another day would seemingly be in character for this particular villain.

Ares

While fans ofthe firstWonder Womanmoviewill remember Ares was the “final boss” in that film, there’s a long history between the two characters in comics as well. The god of war is often wreaking havoc on the world of DC Comics, and because Diana has the blood of gods running through her veins she’s one of a few heroes who can face off against the powerful villain one-on-one. When it comes to the game, it seems like a couple of titanic fights between the two would be fun to play out. Of course, there’s another way this particular character could be used with the Nemesis system.

Part of what makesMonolith’s Nemesis systemso interesting is that players can beat their opponents into submission so they start working for the player. While Ares is almost always an adversary, there are storylines where they have formed an uneasy truce for one reason or another. Moviegoers will remember that the god of war tried to win Wonder Woman over to his cause in the film as well. If the aspect where users can bend people to their will is included in theWonder Womangame, it would make some sense for him to be included as an eventual ally.

Circe

Circe has been a frequent enemyof Wonder Woman in the comics, and she’d certainly be a villain well suited for the game using her different set of powers. Circe relies on magic in order to fight her battles, and when it comes to video games it feels like the sky’s the limit as far as what that would look like. Circe could use her powers to make it appear as if there’s more than one of her on the field, or she could “mesmerize” Wonder Woman to make it harder for the hero to fight. There’s also using magic to hurl objects or energy blasts. It feels like this particular character would open the door to many different ways in which she could be utilized while still staying true to the comic book background.

Giganta

There is a number of different reasons why Giganta would be a perfect fit for theWonder Womangame. Right at the top of the list is that she’s one of the biggest rivals for the Amazon princess who hasn’t appeared in either of her DCEU films. However, it seems like she’d be the perfect enemy for a video game. WhileMarvel’s Avengershas fallen shortin a number of different areas, it has shown that oversized enemies are good main bosses when users are playing with super-powered heroes, because it makes more sense when someone has to spend extra time pummeling the baddies.

Giganta is another character who would fit well with theMiddle-earthdeveloper’s Nemesis system. There wouldn’t need to be one big clash between the hero and her rival. Instead there could be several different skirmishes that would play out over the course of the game. This kind of system is also perfect for a player to lose against a villain at least once and have to go up against Giganta again when she’s empowered by the fact that she won the first time.

Cheetah

Cheetah is such an iconic enemy that she alreadyappeared inWonder Woman 1984. However, a case could be made that the character was extremely misused. Luckily, Monolith’s game has a chance to fix that mistake and really make her an enemy that appears with her full Cheetah powers for more than a few minutes. Having enhanced speed and leaping abilities seems like something that would make for an interesting enemy in this particular game. There’s also the fact that the two characters have squared off hundreds of times over the life of the comic books, so this is one villain who is an absolute no-brainer.
