Now, many players are probably wondering whetherGhost of Tsushimawill come to Sony’s next-generation console. As of the moment,Ghost of Tsushimais still not confirmed for the PS5, but that doesn’t mean players should not expect to see the game on the PS4’s successor, and here are the reasons why.

Will Ghost of Tsushima Come to the PS5?
Before anything else, it is important to discuss how the PS5’s backward compatibility will work, given that this feature will play an important role forGhost of Tsushimabecoming playable on the next-generation console. According to Sony, the PS5 will be backward compatible with most PS4 games, and given thatGhost of Tsushimais probably one of the hottest games on the PS4 right now, it is more than likely that the PS4 version of the game will be compatible on the PS5.
Moreover,PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, recently confirmed that all PS4 games that are submitted for certification must also be compatible with PlayStation 5 starting July 13. AlthoughGhost of Tsushimawas released after the aforementioned date, it is worth pointing out that games are submitted for certification well before their release date, so it is likely that Sony’s latest policy does not coverGhost of Tsushima. However, given that the game is one of the PS4’s biggest flagship titles, it is almost certain that a true PS5 version will be announced at some point in the future.

When will Sucker Punch Announce a PS5 Version of Ghost of Tsushima?
At the moment, no one knows whenSucker Punchwill reveal a PS5 version ofGhost of Tsushima. However, keeping in mind some basic sales strategy, it would be unlikely for Sucker Punch to announce a better version of the game any time soon given that it might have a negative impact on the sale ofGhost of Tsushimafor the PS4. With that in mind, players shouldn’t expect any sort of announcement or tease in the foreseeable future, maybe even a few months after the PS5 launches at the end of this year.
So once the PS5 releases, the earliest that players should be able to playGhost of Tsushimaon the next-gen platform isvia backward compatibility. However, players should be aware that up until this point, Sony hasn’t discussed in detail how the feature will work on the PS5, apart from the console supporting most PS4 games. Again, given the importance ofGhost of Tsushimato Sony, it is likely that it is part of the lineup of games that will support backward compatibility.

What Should Be Included in the PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima?
If Sucker Punch decides to develop a true PS5 version ofGhost of Tsushima, then at the very least, players should expect everything on the PS4 version to be included in the PS5’s. As part of Sony’s new policy, the company has mandated all video game developers that for a game to meet the forward compatibility requirements, it should offer all the same features on the PS4 version to the PS5. This means that players should expect all modes, difficulties, and the Kurosawa mode to also be present in the PS5 version ofGhost of Tsushima.
Of course, given that the PS5 will be vastly superior in terms of power and performance than its predecessor, players should also expect thatGhost of Tsushimawill perform better on the next-generation console. Although we still don’t have specifics, it is likely that the PS5 version of the game will supportfaster load times, more stable frame rates, and maybe even a graphical upgrade, should Sucker Punch decide to offer a remastered version of the game.
Nonetheless, even without official word from Sony and Sucker Punch,Ghost of Tsushimaseems like a shoe-in for the PS5. In the meantime, players who currently own a PS4 should definitely try out Sucker Punch’s latest game, which featuresa vast-open world environmentthat is reminiscent of the studio’sInfamousfranchise, while adding tons of Japanese art and culture, making the game a worthy investment. Apart from its immersive story and well-fleshed out characters,Ghost of Tsushima’saesthetic pays homage to the work of filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, who is known for his iconic films revolving the samurai culture.
