Grand Theft Auto Onlinehas been a major success for Rockstar over the past few years, as the baseGTA 5game continues to sell well even seven years after its initial release. Even now,GTA Onlineis getting a new heistthrough the Cayo Perico update, which is supposed to be a major update for the online game.

Shroud has never been one to shy away from criticizing games that he has played on his channel. In October,Shroud criticizedBlack Ops Cold Warand the way the game handles scorestreaks. He’s also voiced his complaints with titles likeAssassin’s Creed ValhallaandDestiny. In a recent stream, Shroud shared some of his grievances with theGTA Onlineexperience, explaining that the game went in a direction that he wasn’t interested in after a certain point. Shroud attributes this to the game turning into an “open-word grief sandbox.”

Of course, Shroud is not alone in this opinion, despite the overall popularity ofGrand Theft Auto 5. There are plenty ofGrand Theft Autofans and community members who feel likeGTA Onlineis a bit of a mess in a lot of areas, or who feel the game simply lost its appeal after a while. However, Shroud isn’t opposed to revisiting an onlineGTAexperience in the future. The streamer goes on to share some of his hopes for wheneverGrand Theft Auto 6eventually releases, saying, “I’d love to seeGTA 6care about the modding community and work together on a united front.”

Unfortunately for fans ready to move on fromGTA 5andGTA Online, it seems likeGTA 6is still a ways off from release. Fans reallydon’t know much aboutGTA 6at all, as rumors surrounding the game continue to circulate around the internet without ever coming to fruition. Rockstar has also had some internal shakeups that have most likely impacted the development ofGTA 6in some key ways. In the meantime, Rockstar continues to bolster its current online experiences throughGTA OnlineandRed Dead Online.

GTA Online’s Cayo Perico Heistjust got a brand new trailer that makes the new content look very promising. Additionally, Rockstar just officially released a standalone version ofRed Dead Onlinein hopes to increase the game’s player base. If the continuous updates and expansions are any indication, it seems Rockstar is hoping these online experiences last for quite some time. While players who criticize Rockstar’s online games may not like every aspect of these games, it seems like Rockstar has no intention of simply moving on from them at the moment.

Grand Theft Auto Onlineis out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
