The last entry in Red Barrels' terrifyingly disturbingOutlastseries was back in 2017. Ever since then, fans have been eagerly anticipatingTheOutlast Trials. Five years is not a huge amount of time to wait, but with the first game from 2013 being consideredone of the best horror games to mess with player’s minds, many will be curious to see where the developer will take things. Since being announced, there’s not been a large amount of information about the game, but there is some new stuff to check out very soon.According to a recent post on Twitter, fans will be able to take a “brand new look” atThe Outlast Trialsduring Gamescom 2022. Things will kick off during the Opening Night Live event, which starts next Tuesday at 8 PM CEST, 7 PM BST, 2 PM ET, and 11 AM PT. Exactly what’s going to be shown off is not certain at this stage, but those who have been waiting a long time to finally see some additional content from the upcoming horror game won’t have long to wait.RELATED:New Outlast Trials Behind-The-Scenes Video Shows Interesting MoCap SequencesXbox confirmed the plans for Gamescom 2022, which will be taking place between August 23 and August 28, though the actual event proper begins on Thursday, August 25 at 10 AM CEST. Among other things, attendees who will be there in person will be able to get hands-on experience with a number of titles, includingA Plague Tale: Requiem,Sea of Thieves, andAges of Empires 4. There’s also going to be virtual meet and greets for those who are watching online, as well as interviews with developers, such as Mojang and Obsidian Entertainment.
As for Red Barrels and what it’s been up to recently, last month the company revealed anewOutlast Trialsteaser with a full documentary on the way. While this third entry, or fourth if one countsWhitebloweras a separate game rather than DLC, still seems to have thatOutlastlook and style that made the original so memorable for horror fans, the studio is opting to go in a slightly different direction. Namely,Trialswill have a multiplayer feature, where friends will help each other out to survive the experiments at Murkoff, set during the Cold War.
Along withScornand theDead Spaceremake,Outlast Trialsisone of the most anticipated upcoming horror games. Currently, there is no official release date outside of it coming out this year, but hopefully more information about when it will launch will surface during Gamescom.
