A contributing factor to the popularity of the series is in the grounded, complex nature of the characters as they survive and endure a cruel world in a post-apocalyptic America where spores infect humans and turn them into zombie-like creatures known as clickers. Despite theperilous state of the world inThe Last of Us 2, the game spends a lot of time displaying close bonding moments between characters as they viciously fight for the ones they love. One of those moments is at the very beginning of the game where Ellie and Dina have a snowball fight with some of the kids in the city.

Reddit user ElectricalWay7 highlighted the closeness portrayed in those moments in a holiday-themed diorama featuring characters from the game. In the post, they share several images thatfeature Ellie and Dinaworking on a snowman with a clicker stuck inside. In each image, there is a different head in the snowman, the other images replacing the clicker with Joel and then Abby. The art style of the diorama makes a once cruel and threatening world appear adorable and inviting. The setting seems familiar to the snowball fight scene fromThe Last of Us 2.
Several users replied stating that the diorama was adorable and one user pointed out that the post was so cute they almost forgotEllie and Abby were enemies inThe Last of Us 2. Someone else mentioned that they hope someone from Naughty Dog, the studio behind the game, would eventually see this. The original poster also included links to their social media in the replies to the post and stated that anyone could print the diorama out and make their own if they wanted to.
It has been over two years sinceThe Last of Us 2released back in 2020. The game may have launched with critical acclaim but also faced backlash for some of the bold narrative decisions within the game.
