Summary

The Last of Us Part 2presents an arsenal of weapons for players to find, use, and upgrade across their Seattle journey of vengeance. These weapons range from usefulness in stealth, combat, and against hordes of violent enemies, both infected and human alike. The best weapons inThe Last of Us Part 2will have multiple uses and will allow players to navigate through multiple hardships of both human and Cordyceps' creation.

SinceThe Last of Us Part 2follows closely on the themes and warnings of revenge, a quest as heavy and hard-hitting as this is going to need some guns, lots of guns. Both Ellie and Abby’s chapters have exclusive weapons that they can find, so it’s best not to miss weapons inThe Last of Us Part 2, especially when they exhibit great power and kick.

abby with a flamethrower

8Flamethrower

How To Get: Looted From A Corpse In Abby’s The Descent Chapter

Abby has access to a flamethrower, and the weapon comes with positives and negatives. Ammo may seem rather common for this weapon, especially with the large amount of fuel players can get from canisters. However, it’s really only good against harder-infected enemies andisn’t a good choice to use against humanenemies.

The flamethrower can easily burn fungus and kill infected like Clickers and Bloaters, but its reliance on close range makes it a risky choice. Human enemies usually have guns, so they will shoot at the player as they try and burn them, so it’s best to use the flamethrower as a situational weapon.

ellie with a shotgun

7Pump Shotgun

How To Get: Found In Westlake Bank Vault During Ellie’s Downtown Chapter

The pump shotgun is Ellie’s hard-stopping, strong-kicking weapon. It’s one ofThe Last of Us Part 2’s best weapons for a reason, and that’s because it can easily rip the limbs off of enemies, regardless of them being infected or human. Having a shotgun is always a good idea, especially since with upgrades, it can destroy enemies in one blast.

The pump shotgun isn’t the best shotgun that players will find, but if enemies, like Runners, are getting way too close for comfort, a quick blast will send them flying back, and assure that they aren’t getting back up. It’s a great counter weapon to humans with melee weapons, and when it tight spots and close range.

ellie with a revolver

6Revolver

How To Get: Open The Red Box During Ellie’s Packing Up Chapter

Joel’s revolver belongs on the list of best weapons inThe Last of Us Part 2due to what it means to players. This weapon, along withthe memories of Joeland his watch, are integral to the story, so Ellie taking his famed revolver is a must, especially with the bout of upgrades players can make to it in order to make this weapon shine and kick equally as hard as Joel.

The revolver is easy to aim, with recoil easy to negate. A headshot is a guaranteed kill, and every elimination of humans and infected will further the conquest for vengeance on Ellie’s odyssey. Outside of the story implications for the revolver, it’s still just a great weapon worth using.

abby with a hunting rifle

5Hunting Pistol

How To Get: Found Within A Safe In Abby’s On Foot Chapter

Abby can find a hunting pistol inThe Last of Us Part 2, and this weapon is well worth the upgrade cost. Not only can players utilize a scope to have better range instalking their enemies’ movements, but they can upgrade the power of the weapon to instantly kill enemies like Clickers. With this weapon, Shamblers and Bloaters won’t stand a chance, but it’s still a good idea if players keep at a reasonable distance.

Ammo for the hunting pistol isn’t the best, and the amount of bullets that can be chambered isn’t as impressive as some other gun choices, but the fact that it hits so hard against targets that could otherwise cause instant death, means it’s well worth using.

abby with a semi auto rifle

4Semi-Auto Rifle

How To Get: Abby’s Default Weapon At The Start Of The Game

At the start ofAbby’s Seattle chapters, she will gain access to the semi-auto rifle. This weapon can be attached with a scope and a burst fire mode, which can be useful when it comes to taking out hordes of infected, and a constant war with Scars. The semi-auto rifle is useful and reliable, especially if caught out during stealth segments.

Players can utilize the scope for range battles, whilst also using the burst fire for kills in quick succession if a horde of infected is chasing after the player. The constant bout of firing means players can stun with its kick, and make sure Shamblers don’t get too close.

abby with a shotgun

3Double Barrel Shotgun

How To Get: Found In Chinatown of Abby’s Hostile Territory Chapter

Perhaps the most powerful shotgun, Abby can find the double barrel shotgun within her chapters, and it has great uses for controlling the crowd. This weapon hits hard, especially with upgrades, meaning that some shots may pierce multiple enemies, leaving a gory mess of limbs and blood to those hit by the powerful buckshot.

The range on the double barrel shotgun is fairly decent as well, meaning that players can easily shoot from a safe distance and kill Bloaters, Clickers, and other hostile enemies like heavy Scars with melee weapons. The only downside is chambering two bullets rather than more, which could mean a reload assures death.

ellie with a bow

2Bow

How To Get: Found In A House Within Ellie’s Hillcrest Chapter

The Last of Us Part 2proves how resourceful and talented Ellie is with a bow. This weapon is great in her hands, and the bow comes with some amazing advantages, like the fact that ammo can often be scavenged from where players shot it. Upper body shots and headshots are usually instant kills, and this weapon isalways stealthy. Paired with explosive arrows, players can take out large groups of enemies, or simply large enemies, with relative ease.

The bow is not great against combat situations where the player has already been spotted, due to the fact that it takes a while to draw, and ammo can be limited, meaning players must pick up their lost arrows, or craft more.

ellie with a silenced submachine gun

1Silenced Submachine Gun

How To Get: Automatically Picked Up By Ellie In The Resort Chapter

The only downside of the silenced submachine gun comes from the fact that there are no upgrades, and it can only be found in the final chapter ofThe Last of Us Part 2. Regardless, this weapon is one of the best weapons in the entire game for a reason, and its built-in silencer and large ammo magazine are certainly a major factor in why that’s the case.

It’s the perfect weapon for stealth, as lining up a headshot will instantly kill enemies that aren’t using helmets or fungus plating. However, the submachine gun has a bit of a kick to it, so constant headshots without pre-aim might be a struggle, but that’s well worth it for the positives this gun provides.
