Summary

Skyrimlaid out a lot of elements thatThe Elder Scrolls 6can reuse, one of which being the dynamic behind the Ebony Warrior. Although not a major player in the story, the Ebony Warrior represents a concept thatThe Elder Scrolls 6shouldn’t pass up. Even aside from that, the Ebony Warrior’s cool design is an aesthetic that is certainly worthy of seeing in another game. The Elder Scrolls 6should set out to have its own identity among the series. Even with that in mind, passing up on good ideas from the past would be foolish.

Although players won’t see theEbony Warrior boss fromSkyrimuntil very late in the game, he’s a hard character to forget. Once the player reaches Level 80, they can find the Ebony Warrior in one of Skyrim’s cities. Once found, he will challenge the player to a duel at a campsite that he set up known as the Last Vigil, because he seeks a final battle with Skyrim’s finest warrior. He’s rather similar to the Old Orc random encounter in this sense, with both seeking an honorable end in combat. However, the Warrior will not hold back in the fight, making his battle a major challenge.

Skyrim’s Ebony Warrior Set a Standard For Challenge in The Elder Scrolls

What made the Ebony Warrior one ofSkyrim’s most difficult encountersis the sheer amount of strengths that he has at his disposal. Just a few of the perks that he wields include:

The Ebony Warrior arguably has more useful combat abilities than any other character in the game, with a myriad of ways to deal damage, protect himself, and heal. He stands asSkyrim’s resident superboss, requiring more effort to take down than Alduin himself.

What makes the Ebony Warrior aSkyrimfeature worthy ofThe Elder Scrolls 6is the role that he plays. The Ebony Warrior was essentially a final exam forSkyrimplayers, and the last, biggest test of their Dragonborn’s combat abilities. They need to be able to outlast his health and healing ability, while also being able to endure his own powerful attacks, as well as all of his feats and spells. In essence, the Ebony Warrior is like an endgame-level character made by a skilled player. The difference is that rather than facing the final boss, the player is the one who has to defeat him.

The Ebony Warrior is an idea that could be worthy of being atradition inThe Elder Scrolls. He’s the perfect final opponent, a foe that only the most skilled players with the strongest characters will overcome. While the same Ebony Warrior wouldn’t show up again after his death inSkyrim, other characters in the same vein would be more than welcome. They could also don ebony armor, or they could have their own identities entirely. What’s important is that they fulfill the same role as the Ebony Knight.

Although many players may not have met The Ebony Warrior during their playthroughs, he should have aSkyrimlegacy that reachesThe Elder Scrolls 6. Having a boss fight even tougher than the story’s final boss is a proud RPG tradition, andThe Elder Scrollsfound a perfect example when the Ebony Warrior came toSkyrim. Rather than leaving him as a one-off, it would be fun to see what else the series could do with this archetype. The Elder Scrolls 6would do well to have its own version of the Ebony Warrior.
