Intelis about to dive deep into the GPU market, taking on the likes of Nvidia and AMD with its own range of discreet graphics cards. Recent rumors suggested that theArc “Alchemist” could hit shelves in March of this year, so it makes sense that industry types and tech enthusiasts are keeping a close eye on the company’s outpouring. Naturally, there have been a few benchmark tests to see how likely it is for the conglomerate to go head-to-head with its two rivals, and recent tests shows just how the entry-level Arc card stacks up against some other products.
According to a report from Videocardz, which cites a screenshot from Twitter, theIntelArc A380 GPU has had its specs leaked showing that this may be the first out the door for the tech giant, showing that this specific card will be more of an entry-level product. The image attached to the tweet shows that it will have 128 execution units running at 2.45 GHz, as well as, somewhat mysteriously, having 4.8 GB of VRAM.

Numerous benchmark tests show that it will likely have performance rates up to mid-range. Another report suggests that the Intel A380 is about in the same league as the likes of theNvidia GTX 1650Super, which came out in 2019, or the RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU. Sources indicate that, despite the entry-level specs, it’s entirely possible that there will be another, more cut-down Arc graphics card, the A350, which will have less memory and only 96 execution units, and possibly some beefier products on the way as well.
There’s likely to be a lot of fierce competition in the graphics card market this year, but it’s possible that “team blue” may not be gunning for the big leagues just yet, which these recent benchmark tests seem to show, at least in the entry-level field. It’s likely that the company may wait awhile to release the big guns, with anIntel leak saying that 2023 is going to be an interesting year. Given that the next generation of graphics card technology may be happening in the next few months, it will be interesting to see what the company has in-store.
Entry-level cards are an important addition to the PC and gaming communities, especially for those who aren’t in the market for expensive kit. With aleaked AMD 6500 XT and 6400doing the rounds recently, it seems thatIntelmay be more interested in the lower-to-mid aspects of the GPU industry, before it perhaps unveils its more powerful cards down the line.
