According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick,Grand Theft Auto 6’sdevelopment won’t be impacted by the recent leaks from the game.Grand Theft Auto 6is a highly anticipated title and fans have longed for its release since the hype aroundGTA 5began to die down. Only this year has Rockstar confirmed thatGrand Theft Auto 6is in active development, but months after that initial reveal, fans got an unintentional early look at the game through leaks.TheGrand Theft Auto 6leaks covered over 90 clips of footage and revealed plenty of details about the game such as its setting and female protagonist. Thehacker who leakedGrand Theft Auto 6to theGTAforums has since had their account removed, and they are being investigated by local authorities in the UK and the FBI. Despite these leaks showing off an early look atGrand Theft Auto 6, many fans were worried that such a huge security breach at Rockstar would result in the game’s development being negatively impacted.RELATED:Grand Theft Auto Fans Think Rockstar is Elaborately Teasing GTA 6However, theCEO of Take-Two, which is Rockstar’s parent company, recently stated during the company’s second quarter earnings call that, while theGrand Theft Auto 6leak was “terribly unfortunate,” there’s “no evidence that any material assets were taken.” The CEO, Strauss Zelnick, also said that the leak “certainly” wouldn’t have any influence on the game’s development. This echoes previous statements made by Rockstar when they also spoke about the disappointment caused by the security breach and the fact that so much of the game was shown before the developers were ready.
This isn’t the first time Rockstar has suffered a leak, but the footage and images shown ofGrand Theft Auto 6still had many concerned that this could push back a reveal of the game or its release date by a good amount of time. This would have especially been the case had theGrand Theft Auto 6source codebeen stolen, as the hacker had claimed. However, by Zelnick’s account, it seems nothing so serious was taken and development could continue as usual.
