One modder forStreet Fighter 6has added one of the most iconic Legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo, as a playable fighter to Capcom’s game.Street Fighter 6was released at the beginning of June after much anticipation and hype from the fanbase. This entry not only brought back the regulars like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile but also introduced several new characters and a brand-new villain to fill the shoes of theStreet Fighterseries' previous long-standing big bad, M. Bison. With Shadaloo’s dictator leader gone, a man named JP has taken his place as the new big threat of the franchise.Street Fighter 6’s JPis positioned as M. Bison’s successor, and it can be seen in various different aspects of his character. Unlike Bison who reveled in being evil which led to his own downfall, JP is more of a tactical chess master who manipulates people to get his end goals. He also wields the deadly Psycho Power that was also once used by Bison, where he uses it to create shadowy constructs to fight while playing mind games with his opponent. With JP’s focus on being a zoner character that wields deadly purple energy, one modder found it perfect for a mod that replaces him with Mewtwo.RELATED:Street Fighter 6 Data Reveals the Most Popular CharactersThis mod was created by Mika - Tail Lover on Twitter, where they wanted to replace every member of theStreet Fighter 6rosterwith a character with a big tail, with Mewtwo being chosen for JP. The mod for Mewtwo uses his model fromSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, with JP’s cane being replaced by a spoon. The spoon is likely a reference to thePokemon Adventuresmanga, where the Psychic-type uses it as a weapon to defend himself.
While the mod has some concessions made to make it work, such as no hand rigging, facial animations, and one alternate costume, the mod strangely fits a character like JP. The shadowy attacks and effects that JP uses wouldn’t feel out of place that it matches Mewtwo’s aesthetics despite being a Psychic-type, fitting more with his portrayal in the aforementionedSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. ThisStreet Fighter 6mod can be downloaded off of the Nexus mods website.
With the full game out, players have noted thatJP is currently one of the most difficult characters to fight against. Due to JP’s range and status as a zoner, he has plenty of options that can make it hard to deal damage or get close, though experienced players have found ways to control the territory that JP dominates. Inversely, JP is also one of the hardest characters to master, where many players might find his moveset slightly unconventional but still quite formidable in the right hands.
