Once again, Nintendo has pulled anothersurprise Direct Presentationfilled with much-needed information on some of the upcoming games on the Nintendo Switch. One of the upcoming titles that was unveiled in today’s Nintendo Direct isStory of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, which is set to release on Jul 23, 2025, in Japan, and March 23 in North America and Europe.
During the presentation, players were given a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming farming simulator game, which could rival the popularity of other similar titles, such asStardew ValleyandAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.Like previousStory of Seasonsgames,Pioneers of Olive Townwill put players in the role of a farmer whose main task is to grow crops, tend to animals, and socialize with the townspeople. At the moment, the story ofPioneers of Olive Townremains unclear, but just from the trailer alone, players should expect the classicStory of Seasonsexperience.

Apart from the usual farming duties, players can also embark on various activities such as improving the infrastructure in Olive Town, create unique outfits, commission accessories, and even participate in over 200 events. According to the game’s listing on the Nintendo eShop,Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Townwill feature two modes called Seedling and Normal Mode. The former is for beginners who may need a little bit of help settling in their new duties as farmers, while the latter is forveteranStory of Seasonsplayers.
The announcement ofStory of Seasons: Pioneers of OliveTown was made just a few months after the release ofStory of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town,a remake of the 2003Harvest Moongameof the same name. Judging by the gameplay footage shown at the latest Nintendo Direct, it appears thatPioneers of Olive Townwill be adapting the same art-style asFriends of Mineral Town, which features chibi-style characters that adds a unique charm to the game.
Apart fromStory of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, the latest Nintendo Direct also revealed thatControl: Ultimate Editionis now available on the Switch today, but it is worth noting thatControlwill be released via cloud gaming similar to how Nintendo launchedResident Evil 7on the Switch in Japan. Additionally, Nintendo also revealed the long-awaited release date ofBravely Default 2,which will bereleased on the Switch in February 2021.
