A new mod forSkyrim, which allows players to make light work of the travelling aspects of the main storyline and takes direct inspiration fromStarfield,is now available for download.Bethesda is currently working onThe Elder Scrolls 6, though no one has any idea when it will actually release, and fans are also anticipating the studio’s upcoming sci-fi epicStarfield, which will represent its first new IP in a quarter of a century.
With any luck,Starfield’s release date will be just around the corner. Having been pushed back to 2023, fans were no doubt disappointed when the decision was made to delay the launch by an indeterminate amount of time. However, this means Bethesda has a little bit longer to work on the game, so hopefully the finished product will be in a more polished state. In the meantime, all players can do is wait for the space-themed RPG to finally release, and even though it’s not out yet, it hasn’t stopped this one modder from drawing inspiration from it.

As seen by PCGamesN, Nexus Mods user ImADoctorNotA has created aStarfield-themed mod forSkyrimcalled “Quantum (Cursed) Reconstruction.” While it doesn’t turn the 2011 fantasy role-playing game into something more science fiction, the creator says they themed it on the upcoming Bethesda title. Essentially, what the mod does is allow players to move quickly through the main questline by teleporting to locations. By picking up a crystal from Farenger’s table in Dragonsreach in Whiterun, the teleportation powers will be granted. It should be noted that, according to ImADoctorNotA, the mod doesn’t skip the main story but simply “decreases travel time” between objectives.
How the mod relates toStarfieldhas to do with the crystal itself. Once picked up, players will be put into contact with a team in orbit around the planet, who will give a rundown on how teleporting works. This is also very similar to another mod ImADoctorNotA made recently, which providedquantum lockpicking toSkyrimand, again, drew inspiration fromStarfield. In that regard, these modifications are not truly sci-fi in the obvious sense, but they are a clear love letter to Bethesda’s upcoming space game.
As many will already be aware,Skyrimhas a ton of interesting modsthat have helped keep the title in the gaming limelight for years. Where other releases would have faded into oblivion by now,The Elder Scrolls 5has kept on going. Much of this can be attributed to the developer continuing to re-release the game on newer systems, but a lot of its longevity is thanks to the dedicated modding community that keeps putting out custom content for free.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis out now on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
