An update to the officialStarfieldsite prompts fans to wonder if Bethesda is going to make a major announcement soon. Bethesda spoke about the game earlier this week confirming again thatStarfieldwill be released beforeThe Elder Scrolls 6.
On the United States version of theStarfieldsite, the ESRB’s “rating pending” logo can now be found at the bottom. A “provisional” rating from British rating board PEGI, can also be seen on the UK version of the site. Game ratings can often provide a huge amount of information from confirming moreadult content inCyberpunk 2077to leaking a game before it has been officially announced. However, the pending ratings on theStarfieldsite may be just as revealing.

Having a pending rating from the ESRB doesn’t mean that the organization is playing it and that development onStarfieldhas been completed. What it could mean though is that Bethesda is preparing to reveal something new about the game. The ESRB site says that pending rating logo should only be used for promotional materials such as a game trailer. Bethesda’s decision to change the site for no reason does seem to suggest that it expects more people to be visiting it soon and this could be prompted by a new announcement.
If a newStarfieldannouncement is coming then it may happen during theSummer Game Fest. Bethesda has said that it won’t be holding an E3 2020 stream but it has been confirmed as one of the companies that will be taking part in Geoff Keighley’s four month long digital games event. While fans may typically expect a new update forFallout 76orThe Elder Scrolls Online, theFallout 76: Wastelandershas just been released andElder Scrolls Online Greymooris out in June, making another game announcement more likely.
It’s unclear whether the next piece ofStarfieldnews will come with some sort of release date. Bethesda has said thatStarfieldwill be a next-generation gameand since the Xbox Series X and PS5 have now been confirmed for holiday 2020 release dates, that means that a release for the game isn’t so far off.
The issue is that there have beenrumors aboutStarfield’s difficult developmentand this, with Bethesda developers now working from home because of COVID-19, may have led to the game’s delay. This is unconfirmed information for now though but the excitement about a small ESRB logo shows that fans really want to play this game.
