The latestStar TrekseriesStrange New Worldsfocused on the firstStar Trekcaptain ever seen, Christopher Pike, and his crew, as they traveled through space and solved multiple crises as well as met other species. The series presented a return to the quality and balance of drama and humor offered by olderStar Trekseries.

As such, it sat well with the fans. A second season has already been confirmed, and many Trekkies (or trekkers), asStar Trekfans are known, can’t wait to watch it. While it remains unclear what the second season of the show will be about, there are some things that manyStar Trekfans want to see in it.
5Una’s Destiny
Una Chin-Riley was Captain Pike’s first officer and a good friend. So much so that Pike was one of the few people on board the Enterprise Una told the truth about who she was, the fact that she was genetically enhanced, which is forbidden. When the Starfleet learned the truth, Una was arrested in the first season’s finale and beamed off the ship. Considering the tight bond between Una and Pike as well as the rest of the crew, it would make sense if the second season returned to this storyline.
Pike might try to find a way how to free Una. Una could face a martial trial and Pike and the crew could fight for her freedom. Either way, it would even further cement the friendship between the heroes, regardless of how unlikely it is Una will walk free. After all, in the could-have-been final episode, Una was still imprisoned seven years inthe future that never happened.

4More Familiar Characters
Star Trek: Strange New Worldsexcelled in bringing back popular old characters in the first season, albeit with new faces. After the likes of Uhura, Nurse Chapel, Spock, and, of course, Christopher Pike, the fans would like to see even more familiar characters. The final episode of the first season featured a voice cameo of none other thanMontgomery Scott, aka Scotty, Captain Kirk’s future chief engineer. Even if Scotty doesn’t appear in the second season, Doctor Leonard McCoy could, considering the close friendship between him and Kirk.

And from the previously introduced characters, Spock’s father Sarek, played by James Frain inStar Trek: Discovery, would be a welcome addition for many. It’s true that inStar Trek: The Original Series, he and Spock hadn’t seen each other for a long time before reuniting onboard the Enterprise, so if Sarek appeared inStrange New Worldsthat chronologically takes place beforeThe Original Series, it wouldn’t quite make sense. However, it wouldn’t be the first timeStrange New Worldsmade subtle differences to the canon.
3Kirk And Spock Meet
Easily one of the most expected events of the second season is the first meeting between James T. Kirk and Spock. The two Starfleet officers had built an iconic friendship inThe Original Seriesbut have yet to meet inStrange New Worldsin the present time. They only briefly interacted in the hypothetical future in which Pike didn’t get injured and continued to lead the Enterprise as its Captain instead of Kirk.
That short meeting wasn’t enough for the fans who wish to see how Paul Wesley’s Kirk and Ethan Peck’s Spock find their way to each other, and whether they’ll become friends easily or struggle with growing closer as their movie counterparts did inthe rebootedStar Trekseriesby J. J. Abrams.

2More Alien Species Appear
Star Trekis a rich world full of species, yet it properly explored only some of them. While the likes of Vulcan, Klingons, or Romulans got a lot of space in the previous series, there are other species that have appeared inStar Trekbefore but would deserve more spotlight. This is the case of Andorians, for example, who were only truly prominent inStar Trek: Enterprise.

And since the events ofEnterprisetook place a hundred years beforeStrange New Worlds, it’d be interesting to see how the Andorian society evolved ever since. Of course, there are many other species that could play a part in Season Two and enrich the already developed world ofStar Trek. Or the series could even come up with a new species that would go on to become prominent. The possibilities are almost endless here, and this is another aspect ofStar Trekits fans like about it.
1Spock’s Family Issues
Other than sending the crew on an epic space adventure, the first season also took the care to establish their personal lives. And considering Spock’s popularity, it makes sense an emphasis was on him and the complicated relationship with his Vulcan fiancée T’Pring.
The second season could delve even deeper and focus on Spock’s relationship with Nurse Chapel, or, what’s more likely, address the question of his half-brother Sybok, who was last glimpsed in a prison. That would add a lot of personal drama for Spock to the series, and would also allow bringing back Captain Angel, one of the most prominent villainsof the first season.
