Sony first announced a sequel in 2019,which was originally going to be split into two parts, with part one scheduled for an April 2022 release. During CinemaCon, Sony also revealed the first 15-minutes ofAcross the Spider-Verse.The upcoming sequel is a massive achievement, with over 1000 crew members, 6 universes, and 240 characters in the film. According to CinemaCon attendees, the early footage features Gwen Stacy (Hawkeyestar Hailee Steinfeld) taking on The Vulture at the Guggenheim Museum in her universe, Earth-65.
