Overall,Spider-Manis in an excellent place at the moment. While the comics may be a disappointment, everywhere else fans have a lot to look forward to. The MCU’sSpider-Manhas finally reached his prime, setting up a bright future, whileSpider-Man: Freshman Yearcould be another great animated series for the webhead. Insomniac is continuing its excellentMarvel’s Spider-Manseries in the world of video games, and the incredible sequel toSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Versejust hit theaters.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseis another masterpiece, living up to the spectacular visuals, stellar performances, and strong storytelling of its predecessor. It also kicks things up a notch with the introduction of the Spider Society, featuring hundreds of variants of the wall-crawler that feel either familiar or completely new. With so many new Spider-People on display, it only makes sense that Insomniac Games adds costumes based on the most intriguing variants.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Costume Ideas Based on Across the Spider-Verse
When looking atAcross the Spider-Verse, a few suits immediately come to mind.Miles Morales’ updated costumewith the red lines moving down the side of his body could be added, with Insomniac applying the same frame rate effect it used for the original version of the costume. Additionally, an updated version of the 2099 costume based on his bulkier design could be unlockable, while the next version of the Scarlet Spider costume can have the cel shaded 1990s filter from the movie. A Spider-Punk look less like the traditional design and more like the stylized one in the movie would be nice to see, too.
Beyond variants of costumes that already exist, though,Across the Spider-Versecan inspire a number of other exciting costumes that have yet to appear in the game. For starters, the film has brought backSpectacular Spider-Man, one of the most beloved iterations of the hero. With this extra attention being placed on the character, now is the perfect time to give him a costume in the games. Considering that the Spider-Clan suit has already been added, Insomniac is clearly willing to add smaller and more unique character models.
Alongside a tribute to Spectacular Spider-Man, the cowboy-themed Web-Slinger would make a great skin. If Insomniac brings back the concept of suit-specific abilities from the previous games in the series, perhaps Peter could even wield a revolver when he has this skin equipped, shooting out high-powered webs that one-shot weak enemies. The community has already pushed fortherapist Spider-Manto make an appearance, which would certainly be fun to see and could give similar vibes to the silly Undies skin from the first game. Spider-Man India would be great as well, as his suit is unlike any others that have appeared in the series thus far.
Perhaps the best option comes at the very end of the movie, with the Prowler version of Miles Morales being an awesome design that absolutely deserves to be its own skin. While the Purple Reignsuit fromSpider-Man: Miles Moraleshad obvious Prowler vibes, it did not fully commit to the idea of Miles as Prowler and looked more like a version of the hero’s normal look that borrows his uncle’s colors. Insomniac could even give Miles dreadlocks for any unmasked moments in the story if this suit is equipped, adding an extra touch to the design.
While characters like Spider-Gwen, Spider-Bite, and Spider-Woman cannot be properly realized without a female hero in the mix, the male Spider-People can and should appear as alternate skins. More costumes with unique art styles like the Vintage suit in the first game andtheInto the Spider-Versesuit for Miles would certainly be welcome, and this film gives Insomniac a ton of designs to pull from. At the very least, existing skins like 2099, Spider-Punk, andScarlet Spidercan get a makeover to look just as good as they did inAcross the Spider-Verse.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is scheduled to release in Fall 2023 for PS5.
