Continuing the trend of keepingSkyrimin the gaming spotlight, a fan has created a mod for the epic 2011 title that not only overhauls one of the game’s major cities, but gives it an arena worthy of featuring inOblivion. Since beginning life back in the mid-90s,The Elder Scrollsinstallments have gone on to become some of thebest offline RPGsof their generations. The fifth entry in particular continues to receive a lot of attention, even after almost 12 years.
WhileSkyrimis by no means thebiggest open-world game out there, covering an area of roughly 15 square miles, it offers so much for players to see and do, with fans still discovering something new after all this time. One of the other reasonsTES5is still as popular as ever can be attested to the modding community. There is so much custom content out there thanks to the fans themselves, some of whom go to great lengths to overhaul major aspects of the vanilla experience.

As spotted by Gfinity, Nexus Mods user RedBag recently unveiled “RedBag’s Falkreath,” a modification forSkyrimthat, as the name suggests, pays special attention to the city of Falkreath. As well as making some splendid changes to the settlement, which includes 10 new NPCs, “extremely detailed” and “unique houses,” and the implementation of 4K textures, there’s now anOblivion-style arena for players to take part in. A video from the YouTube channel Capt. Panda shows the mod off, which makes the city look a lot more vibrant with its new assets, as well as giving a glimpse into the arena in which combatants can be seen fighting. Footage from RedBag’s mod can be seen at the 3:32 mark.
As one of themajor cities inSkyrim, Falkreath is a well known place for any Dragonborn adventurer. While it doesn’t boast the gorgeous architecture of Markarth or the population density of Whiterun, it’s still an important part of theTES5experience. Anyone familiar with the location will immediately see the changes RedBag has made to the place, and they may as well stop off for a quick fight in the arena while they’re at it.
Althoughsome fans may preferObliviontoSkyrim, it can’t be denied that the latter has been the bigger commercial successor when compared to its predecessor. Both entries in the series have been instrumental in moving the series away from old school role-playing and into more action RPG, but each game is still beloved by the community, with mods coming out all the time.
