Summary

If a recent leak is to be believed,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3may be receivingMortal Kombat-themed content in a future update. While all leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, the leaked image for thisCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3crossover does look legitimate.

Anyone who has followed theCall of Dutyfranchise in recent years will be aware of just how many collaborations have occurred. Characters from television shows likeThe Boyshave appeared withinCall of Duty, as have action heroes from movies like Judge Dredd, Rambo, and John McClane. Spawn, Godzilla, and Ash fromEvil Deadhave also featured within the games, as have other video game characters likeLara Croftand Lilith fromDiablo 4. With all this in mind, aMortal Kombatteam-up feels fairly believable.

Scorpion In The New timeline in Mortal Kombat 1

Theleakin question comes from the Twitter account @ForwardLeaks, and it features the black camo background fans have seen regularly in recentCall of Dutygames. Alongside text reading Fist O’ Fire, an image ofMortal Kombat’s Scorpioncan be seen, with the character surrounded by flames. What this text and image are meant to represent is unclear, though they could be for a medal, like what players receive for multi-kills. Alternatively, the text and icon could represent a special ability that players wield inside a limited time mode.

Supporting the special ability theory is the upcomingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3Season 1mode Supe’d Up. Featured on the roadmap for the Season, the image used to advertise the LTM focuses on Homelander. While Supe’d up could simply see players on both teams wearing the skins fromCall of Duty’s two crossovers withThe Boys, the mode’s name suggests gamers will use special abilities tied to the Supes, similar to how Zombie Royale inWarzonegave infected players unique skills. As such, perhaps this leaked image is an early look at an ability icon from aMortal Kombat-themed LTM where players wield fire like Scorpion, though this is purely speculation.

Obviously, the main draw of a collaboration betweenMortal KombatandCall of Dutywould be cosmetics. Both Scorpion and Sub-Zero are obvious choices due to how recognizable they are, but given how wackyCall of Dutyhas gotten with skins like Inarius, it would surely have no problem adding characters like Kenshi andFire God Liu Kang. Plus, thanks toCall of Duty’s mature rating, brutal finishing moves could be added that recreate Fatalities from the series. The expected weapon blueprints, calling cards, and emblems could round outMortal Kombatbundles.

As for other skins that could come toCall of Dutysoon, a recent leak suggested thatRick Grimes and Michonne fromThe Walking Deadare also on the way. However, with previous leaks like a Captain America skin forCall of Duty: Vanguardnot panning out, fans should not get their hopes up until the crossover is officially confirmed.
