Acquire the Lasso
The early parts ofRed Dead Redemption’sstory revolve around helping out the MacFarlane family on their ranch. These missions teach the player the basic mechanics of the game. Fans need to complete the mission “Wild Horses, Tamed Passions” to get the lasso.Bonnie MacFarlane will give Johnthe lasso to help catch some wild horses. Use the weapon wheel to equip the lasso. Ready the lasso by hitting the lock-on button then throw it using the shoot button. The lasso has a limited range so make sure to be close to the target.
Accepting Bounties
Once John has the lasso and met Armadillo’s sheriff, bounties should become available. White skulls will appear on the map when a wanted poster has been put up. Sometimes John can even witness the local deputy placing the poster. Check train stations and telegraph posts regularly for new bounties. Accept the bounty by clicking on the poster.
Once the bounty has been assigned a red skull will appear on the map revealing the location of the target.

Hogtie Targets
The red skull will always be the main target so make sure not to kill them, but quickly dispatch all the other gang members at the location. When the target is the only enemy remaining shoot them in the legs to injure them. Use weaker guns like pistols or revolvers to keep them alive. Use the lasso on the injured enemy and keep the left trigger held. Walk up close then press the Y/Triangle/X button indicated to hogtie them. Pick them up and place them on John’s horse. The player then needs to ride to the nearest town that the game will mark with a waypoint. Be careful as gang members will attack trying to save their friend. Make it to the waypoint to receive double the reward.Completing a certain amount of bounties in each area is required for 100% completion.
