WithCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarandCall of Duty: Vanguard, Activision waited until late in the summer to properly reveal the games. However, things are different for the 2022Call of Dutygame, revealed to be none other thanCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Activision has wasted no time promoting the 2022Call of Dutygame, revealing the logo, release date, box art, and more. However, Activision has yet to reveal actual gameplay or a proper trailer forModern Warfare 2, but that may be changing in the very near future.

As spotted by Charlie Intel, theModern Warfare 2release date videoincludes some interesting spray paint on a shipping container. Written in neon green coloring, the paint reads “J - 8 - 22.” While it could be a coincidence, it seems like a pretty obvious hint that theModern Warfare 2reveal date is going to be June 8, meaning fans will get to see the game for themselves in just a matter of weeks.

Lending credibility to this theory is the fact that reputable leaker Tom Henderson already said theModern Warfare 2reveal date would be June 8. Between Henderson’s claims and the evidence found in theModern Warfare 2release date video, it seems highly likely that the reveal is happening on June 8, though Activision has yet to outright confirm it.

WhenModern Warfare 2is revealed to the public, it will be interesting to see what exactly is shown off. As always, this year’sCall of Dutygame is expected to be made up of multiple components. There will most likely be a story-driven single-player campaign for players to go through, not to mention the franchise’s tried-and-true multiplayer as well as a third game mode of some kind. Based on the leaks so far, smart money is that the June 8 reveal, if it happens, will be focused on theModern Warfare 2campaign.

Later on, it’s likely that Activision will turn its attention toModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer and third game mode. As far as the third game mode goes, nothing official has been announced at the time of this writing, but insiders point to anEscape from Tarkov-inspired mode called DMZ.

More information on the game will come to light in the months ahead, so fans can expect to learn plenty more about the campaign, multiplayer, the rumored DMZ mode, andModern Warfare 2’s cast of characterssooner rather than later.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2will release on October 28.
