Pokemon Uniterecently passed its six-month anniversary just a few weeks ago and the popular MOBA has seen plenty of iconic creatures added to its roster in recent months. The last month of 2021 saw two new additions to the game’s roster with Tsareena and thehighly-requested Dragonite joining the fightand thePokemonMOBA welcomed Trevenant as its first new addition for the new calendar year. Now, developer TiMi Studios has officially revealed the newest addition to the game’s lineup with a battle-ready sword and shield slashing its way into battle.

Pokemon Unitehas steadily built its roster over the half-year since its release in July as the game has typically introduced multiple new creatures each month, adding up to a roster that now boasts 30 unique Pokemon following the release of Trevenant. The game has already seen many fan-favorite Pokemon added with each of the franchise’s Gen 1 starter Pokemon occupying a slot alongside many recent selections like Gen 6’s Sylveon and the Galar starter Cinderace. Now,Pokemon Uniteis set to feature another member ofPokemon’s sixth generation roster as the game will welcome the “Royal Sword” Pokemon Aegislash.

The Pokemon Company and TiMi Studios officially revealed Aegislash asPokemon Unite’s 31st playable characterwith a character spotlight on the game’s official Twitter. The trailer shows off a variety of moves Aegislash will have that allows the Pokemon to swap between defensive and offensive gameplay, featuring a shield attack that follows with a stun as well as gap-closing sword slashes and an ultimate that deals heavy damage in a line. Fans of Aegislash won’t have to wait long as the tweet places the Pokemon’s official release date less than a week away on February 10.

Aegislash is the most recent in a trio of fearsome Ghost Pokemon thatPokemon Unitehas introduced through the end of 2021 and into 2022. Alongside the previously mentioned Trevenant released last month,Unitealso added a fellow Grass-Ghost Pokemon in November with theGen 7 starter Decidueyeintroduced as a Ranged Attacker. WhilePokemon Unitedoesn’t factor the franchise’s traditional type advantages into the gameplay, Aegislash will notably be the second Steel-type Pokemon featured within the game’s roster, following the launch Pokemon Lucario.

AsPokemon Unitesettles into its first full calendar year following the game’s mid-year release in 2021, the popular MOBA seems to have plenty on the horizon to keep fans excited.Uniterecently debuted its newest Battle Pass, dubbed “New Sheriff in Town,” introducing new cosmetics for trainers as well as new Western-themed Holowear for Dragonite and Zeraora. Whilethe game’s premium Holowearhas been a subject of controversy forPokemon Unite, the game’s frequent addition of new characters looks to keep fans engaged and coming back for more.
