The Bug/Fire-typeLarvestaand Volcarona first appeared in Generation 5’sPokemon Black/White, where trainers could obtain one by hatching an Egg. With each new generation, it became possible to catch Larvesta in the wild, and this holds true forPokemon ScarletandPokemon Violet.
Larvesta is known for having the latest evolution level out of all Bug types, which is unusual for most Bug-type Pokemon like Caterpie, which evolve at relatively early levels. Fortunately, someScarlet/Violetplayers may find it easier to level up and evolve the Bug/Fire-type Pokemon than they would have in previous generations.

Where to Find Larvesta in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Larvesta can be found anywhere in theAsado DesertnearCascarrafaandPort Marinada. While they can be seen crawling along the sand, players can also find them on top of the mesas.
These Larvesta can only be reached if Koraidon/Miraidon has the ability to climb walls, which unlocks after gettingthe last Herba Mystica with Arven. When looking for Larvesta,Scarlet/Violetplayers will want to be aroundlevel 26. To make catching Larvesta easier, trainers should also have 2-3 gym badges.
As a Bug/Fire-type Pokemon, Larvesta has quite a few weaknesses. When battling it, use a Quick Ball on the first turn, or use moves that target its resistances (i.e., Ice, Bug) to slowly get its HP down to yellow or red. It shouldn’t be too difficult to catch if players are at the appropriate level.
Larvesta can also be found in3-Star Tera Raids. A Terastallized Larvesta may have a Tera Typing that’s different from its primary (Bug) and second-typing (Fire). So, if this is a problem forScarlet/Violetplayers, then they should stick to catching the Larvestas in Asado Desert. Remember that a Pokemon can change its Tera Typing atthe Treasure Eatery in Medaliin exchange for 50 Tera Shards of the desired Typing.
How to Evolve Larvesta into Volcarona
The next step is evolving Larvesta into Volcarona. Larvesta will evolve atlevel 59. The quickest way to level up is to feed itExp. Candies, particularlyExp. Candy LorExp. Candy M. These can be farmed bywinning 4-Star Tera Raids.
As Volcarona, it shares the following type effectiveness and gains a stronger base stat spread:
Strong against (deals x2 or more damage to these Types with the right moves)
Weak against (takes x2 or more damage from these Types)
Resistances (takes half or less damage from these Types)
Immunities (cannot be damaged by these Types)

The best Nature for Larvesta and VolcaronaisTimid (+Spd, -Attk)orModest (+Sp. Attk, -Attk)since Volcarona’s better moves that it learns via leveling up or TM, are Special Moves. Avoid pitting it against Pokemon with Rock-type moves, as Larvesta/Volcarona is extremely weak to Rock-type Pokemon.
Evolving Larvesta takes a lot of time and patience, but its impressive Special Attack and Speed make it a swift, hard-hitting addition to the team.
