When the results were finally published, the placements shocked some players but the response was overall positive - fans of Pokemon such as Quagsire and Slither Wing were surprised in the best possible way.

At the moment, according to this poll, Tinkaton seems to be the most popular Pokemon in Japan. Tinkaton is one of the few Pokemon to have the Fairy and Steel dual typing which is a notorious typing in the competitive world due to how powerful it can be. With this type-combination, Tinkaton can be incredibly resistant, thus proving itself defensively. On top of that,Tinkaton has the signatures move Gigaton Hammer, which is extremely powerful with 160 Power and 100 Accuracy, and the only drawback is the fact that it can’t be used twice in a row.

Fuecoco made it to the top four, but Meowscarada -Sprigatito’s final evolution- is still ranked higher as it’s shown to be the second Pokemon on the list. So, even though Fuecoco is the preferred starter Pokemon, Meowscarada is the favorite out of all final starter evolutions. This standing cat’s success on the popularity list is most likely a result of how well it’s been doing competitively.

Curiously, it seems that newer Pokemon have been doing better this generation in terms of fan favoritism. The first Pokemon to appear on the list that wasfeatured in previousPokemongame entries is Sylveonand it’s only ranked at number seven.
