Summary
Using strategies they have a reputation for making, aPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer created one for taking down Venusaur the Unrivaled in a single strike, using their trusty Magikarp to land the finishing blow. ThePokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer posted their strategy on social media alongside a video clip of the battle.
Known as the Seed Pokemon, Venusaur is the first of three consecutive Seven-Star Tera raid battles that were announced during a Pokemon Presents broadcast that took place on Pokemon Day. At the time of writing,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers have until the evening of Tuesday, March 5, to face this powerful Kanto starter Pokemon, which has the Ground-type as its Tera type. Though its type is changed to Ground for the battle,Venusaur the Unrivaledwill make short work of unprepared Pokemon teams since it will immediately use three of its seven moves at the start. Venusaur will use Sunny Day and Growth to bolster its potency, and then use Petal Blizzard, a physical Grass-type attack that can take down any Pokemon with weak defenses.

Though some strategies for taking down Venusaur have become popular, onePokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer returned to using the methods that gave them a reputation. A Reddit user named Nommable123 posted a video on the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit of their successful attempt at defeating Venusaur with their prized Shiny Magikarp as the star. Similarly to theirBlaziken Tera raid strategy, Nommable123 had three other Pokemon take the field in supporting roles. These Pokemon were Medicham, Golduck, and Thundurus. These Pokemon’s roles were to take down Venusaur’s defenses, buff the Magikarp after Venusaur used its stat-resetting maneuver early in the fight, and use healing cheers if needed.
Venusaur The Unrivaled Gets One-Shot By A Magikarp
Knowingwhat to bring intoPokemon Scarlet and VioletTera raid battles, the OP said that Venusaur’s Sunny Day was negated by Golduck’s Cloud Nine, which made Petal Blizzard less potent. Thundurus and Golduck then used Eerie Impulse and Screech to lower Venusaur’s stats, while the Medicham used Light Screen and a Defense Cheer to keep their defenses up. After buffing the Magikarp with Swagger and Skill Swap, the Fish Pokemon used Flail on its teammates to build Tera charges and power up its Metronome item. Once it Terastallized later in the battle, Magikarp took down Venusaur with a single blow.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will not have much longer to try a similar strategy, as Venusaur will depart andBlastoise will take the fieldstarting on Tuesday, March 5, at 6:00 PM Eastern. It remains to be seen what strategiesPokemontrainers will use against the Shellfish Pokemon.
