Following the end ofPokemon GOSeason 14: World of Wonders,Niantic went to Madrid to host Pokemon GO Fest 2024on June 14 to celebrate the game with players from Spain. During the event, players in Madrid teamed up to complete activities across the city, catch rare Pokemon, and obtain event-exclusive rewards. The event also gave players another opportunity to hunt for Shiny Pokemon, which are much harder to find in the wild due to their very low encounter rate.
Reddit user YOLTZsean encountered a Shiny Goomy duringthe latestPokemon GOCommunity Day event, but they were able to “swap” their encounter with a rare Shiny Slakoth by using Shiny Swapping. This new method letsPokemon GOplayers swap the Shiny Pokemon they encounter by quickly running away from the encounter and approaching anotherPokemonwithin a matter of a few seconds. The success of this technique may vary greatly, but it appears that Community Day events and limited-time events like Slumbering Sands may help boost the chances of Shiny Swapping working as YOLTZsean has shown in their gameplay clip. This is due to the Shiny encounter rate being higher than normal during these limited-time events.
Pokemon GO Player Uses Shiny Swapping to Catch Shiny Slakoth
Although manyPokemon GOplayers are skeptical about Shiny Swapping, the community is still impressed with YOLTZsean’s Shiny catch. Some users, including Yololars, estimate that the odds of Shiny Swapping working may be one in 400, so the method is difficult and unlikely to work consecutively unless the boosted encounter rates bonus is active. In comparison, the chances of capturing Shiny Pokemon under normal conditions are estimated to be one out of 512. Occasionally,Pokemon GOplayers defy the low chances of capturing Shiny Pokemonwith sheer luck.
Pokemon GOSeason 15:Shared Skiesis now live until September 3, and Pokemon GO Fest 2024 is still part of the season’s schedule of events. Pokemon GO Fest will head to New York City on July 5, followed by the global event on July 13.
