Summary

APokemonfan designs an original concept for a Future Paradox version of Generation 2 Water-type Pokemon Mantine. Mantine last appeared in 2022’sPokemon Legends Arceus, and the Paradox form offers a glimpse into what the Pokemon could look like if it were re-introduced in the Generation 9Pokemongames,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Paradox Pokemon first arrived inPokemon Scarlet and Violetas ancient and futuristic versions of existing Pokemon. Their enigmatic nature led many Pokemon researchers to work in the Paldea region, and occult magazines would spread mysteries about Paradox Pokemon. After encountering Paradox Pokemon for the first time inPokemon Scarlet and Violet,Pokemonfans began to brainstorm their own Paradox forms that they would like to see in the game. Nearly a year afterPokemon Scarlet and Violet’srelease, fans continue to make new Paradox forms of their own, includingAncient and Future Paradox Ditto.

Pokemonfan OzoneFruit completed a design for Future Paradox Mantine, which is reminiscent ofthe fan-made Future Paradox Honedge designdue to its high-tech aesthetic. Unlike the normal Water/Flying-type Mantine, OzoneFruit’s Paradox Mantine is a Ghost/Flying-type Pokemon. The Paradox version is named Iron Turbine due to its metallic body and ability to travel at supersonic speeds like a fighter jet. According to OzoneFruit’s description of the concept Pokemon, Iron Turbine is able to fly at such high speeds by taking in huge volumes of air to propel itself.

While flying, the Paradox Pokemon leaves a glowing trail of exhaust that almost looks like a tail. The Paradox Pokemon design also depicts a miniature drone, which the Iron Turbine is able to control with its antenna. Iron Turbine will dock the miniature drones on the underside of its metallic wings when it doesn’t need to run reconnaissance or enter combat.

Although OzoneFruit did not elaborate on Iron Turbine’s fighting capabilities, the Mantine could be a formidable ally due to its strengths against a wide range of Pokemon. For example, the Ghost/Flying-type Mantine would be super effective against Grass, Bug, Fighting, and Psychic-type Pokemon. The Iron Turbine could also hold its own in battle against anotherFlying-type Pokemon like Rayquazasince its high-speed capabilities imply a boost in evasiveness.

Mantine is not available inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, but the Pokemon could make its return in The Indigo Disk DLC or Generation 10Pokemongames. Currently, Mantine may be caught inPokemon Legends Arceusfor Nintendo Switch and the ever-popularPokemon GOmobile game.
