While many video game fans are excited about the first couple of months of 2022 due to the launch of numerous highly anticipated video game titles, some fans are really looking forward to theSteam Deck,a portable gaming PC developed by Valve. TheSteam Deck comes out next monthand allows fans to play the games they own on Steam while, similar to the Nintendo Switch, also providing the option to take the PC on the go.

Although marketed as a portable gaming PC that can run any game listed in the Steam library, a new list of titles was released that indicates not everything is currently supported for the Steam Deck. Among the list was the highly successfulPersona 4 Goldenthat was re-released on Steam in 2020.

The note attached toPersona 4 Goldenstates that the title is not currently supported on theSteam Deck, but that Valve was currently working on adding support for it. It’s not really known why the title isn’t currently supported or how long it will take beforePersona 4 Goldengets support. It’s possible it’s just a small delay but with the Steam Deck coming out just next month,Persona 4 Goldenlikely won’t be playable on launch.

It’s unfortunate for some fans that were planning on playingPersona 4 Goldenwith the portable console, but with a whole library of games to choose from, Steam Deck owners have lots to be excited about. This includesGod of Warwhich was shown being played on the Steam Deckand coincidentally released on Steam just last week to rave reviews.

After themassive success ofPersona 4 Goldenthough, it’s likely Sega is looking into porting morePersonatitles to PC which could ultimately end up on the Steam Deck later down the line. Fans have been asking forPersona 5to come to the Nintendo Switch for some time, but if the title ends up on PC instead, it could give the Steam Deck an edge over its competitor.

For now, however, all that’s left to do is wait to see how the Steam Deck fares as not just a new gaming PC, but a potential competitor to handheld consoles such as the Nintendo Switch.Valve CEO Gabe Newell says the price was painful to achievewhich suggests Valve is selling lower than it would like in order to appeal to more gamers. It seems as though Valve is considering many different factors to make sure the Steam Deck turns out well and is something that lives up to fans' expectations.
