WhileOverwatchis set about fifty years in the future, it does not go full cyberpunk with its visuals. However, one fan’s art pieces imagine what would happen if it did, with severalOverwatchheroes getting more futuristic designs.

This is not the only time that fans have pushed for a cyberpunk-focused approach to theOverwatchcast. Back when the game launched, aCyberpunk 2077fan created Sombrathrough the character creator. Playing through the game as their favorite character fromOverwatch, the fan could have made some fun choices if they tried to match Sombra’s personality. Her look also fit the world ofCyberpunk 2077, so it makes sense that this art set from squidsmith would also feature Sombra in action.

Posted to Reddit by Winged_Daedalus, the cyberpunk-inspiredSombra designsees the morally ambiguous character laughing maniacally. Her classic hairstyle can be seen, as can the cybernetic implants on the side of her head. A metal chin piece that wraps around her head and up to her ear is also included, giving her costume a more futuristic touch. She appears to be wearing a fur coat, a nice change from her usual attire. Alongside Sombra, a cyberpunk version of Tracer with a love for the color green is imagined, while a version of Widowmaker with smaller goggles that can display words is also showcased.

While these characters only have portrait designs so far, the other heroes designed by squidsmith also get poster variants. These posters place them alongside another character, with an example being howthe ever-popular Mercyis placed with the dangerous Moira. While the gold outfit on the former is nice, the latter’s leather coat, red pants, and hairstyle are perfect for a cyberpunk setting. Ashe and D.Va also get some love. While D. Va may not have her mech, the neon pink eyes and popped collar certainly look like something she would wear. As for Ashe, her mechanical arm, red jacket, and redesigned dynamite all help her to stand out.

The other two heroes that got some love from squidsmith were the mother-daughter pair of Pharah and Ana. With the loss of Ana’s eye and her intentional disappearance being one of thedarkest parts ofOverwatch’s lore, seeing that carried over to her cyberpunk outfit is great. She rocks a more futuristic design for her eyepatch that begins from her neck, while a ponytail joins subtle clothing to make for a look that fits Ana. As for Pharah, she chooses orange and black instead of yellow and blue, while her outfit is significantly less armored. The helmet is also different.

With another creative fan recently makingOverwatchmagazine covers, it seems like the community is thinking outside the box when it comes to the latest fan art. Given how well squidsmith’s pieces turned out, hopefully this trend of neat ideas continues.

Overwatchis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
