During the first half of the game,Ellieencounters many members of the WLF and other organizations in Seattle. Not only does she run into people that get in the way of her plan, but she also comes across dogs that the WLF takes on their patrols of the area. While the game forces Ellie to kill one dog named Angel, there is another that she runs into during Seattle Day 2 that she doesn’t need to kill. The dog, named Bear, will initially jump at Ellie and attempt to bite her, but after she pushes Bear off of her, the dog will run away to the WLF handlers.
While the player can choose to kill the dog, they can also spare Bear as they continue through that section of the game. Killing or sparing Bear doesn’t affect the game in the long run, butAbbywill meet with the dog on Seattle Day 1 when the player takes on her perspective. Abby gets the chance to pet and play catch with Bear, and if players decided to spare the dog on their first encounter, they can interact with Bear without the guilt of knowing that they’ll be the ones to end this dog’s life.
