Summary
One ofDestiny 2’s most appealing features is undoubtedly the vast array of cosmetic customization options made available to players for their characters. While many of the ornaments and shaders included in these customization options are attainable through the game’s various activities,Destiny 2regularly features special crossover events in which a set of universal ornaments inspired by other popular video game titles is made purchasable via its Eververse store. The MMO’s most recent crossover includes an attractive set of ornaments inspired byThe Witcher’s titular monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. However, there is still one more crossover that would make sense for the game before The Final Shape arrives in June 2024.
Destiny 2’s crossover events have featured plenty of iconic designs from franchises likeAssassin’s Creed,God of War, andHorizon, each typically showcasing a version of their protagonist’s appearance adapted to fitDestiny 2’s visuals. Although the meticulous design of these cosmetic options and the popularity of their associated franchises have contributed to their success inDestiny 2, none of them have felt entirely welcome in the game on account ofdifferences in their settings, characters, and genre. A crossover event featuring the high-tech dystopian aesthetic ofCyberpunk 2077, however, could complementDestiny 2, especially during its Lightfall era.

A Destiny 2 Cyberpunk Crossover Would Make Sense During Lightfall
Lightfall’s Cyberpunk Aesthetic Would Accommodate a Cyberpunk 2077 Crossover
Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion marked a turning point for the MMO in more than one way. Not only did it show theDestinycommunity that Bungie has been listening to the requests of fans and at least attempting to fulfill them to the best of their ability, but it has also proven to be one of the most divergent expansions to date in its weaponry, itsnew location of Neomuna, and the addition of the incredibly unique Strand subclass. Apart from these valuable additions to the base game, the expansion’s most recognizable feature is perhaps its cyberpunk-esque environments and visuals, which are brand-new to the world ofDestiny 2 and can be witnessed in Neomuna and several of the game’s activities.
A crossover event featuring the high-tech dystopian aesthetic ofCyberpunk 2077…could complementDestiny 2, especially during its Lightfall era.
AsDestiny 2’s crossover event items have often been criticized for being “off-theme,” aCyberpunk 2077crossover would likely be met with open arms during Lightfall’s time as the most recent expansion. Season of the Wish has already introduced shaders like Neon Splash and Dreamweaver that fit theneon color scheme of the cyberpunk genre, so aCyberpunk 2077ornament set would be a proper way for those shaders to showcase their full potential. Furthermore, with many players now neglecting Neomuna forDestiny 2’s other activities, a bundle ofCyberpunk 2077cosmetics might encourage them to return, even if only to see their characters better suited for the cyberpunk locale.
Cyberpunk 2077 Ornaments Would Complement Destiny 2’s Futuristic Character Designs
As already mentioned above, much of the criticism ofDestiny 2’s past crossover events has been aimed at noticeable style differences between games. For example, translating the look and feel ofAssassin’s Creed, a franchise consisting of installments that generally take place in ancient history, over toDestiny 2is understandably difficult, as it can easily result in unconvincing character appearances when those characters are surrounded by cosmic, futuristic environments. WhileAssassin’s Creedcertainly has futuristic elements, theAssassin’s Creed Odyssey-inspired Misthios ornamentsthat were introduced alongside the launch ofDestiny 2’s Season of the Seraph didn’t match the game’s familiar character designs, leading to a rather cold reception from theDestinycommunity.
Fortunately, aCyberpunk 2077ornament set would fitDestiny 2’s well-established character models perfectly. Guardians donning sleek metallic armor sets featuring exposed internal circuitry or cybernetic limbs — and holographic effects or neon lighting — would add to the engaging visual experience already offered byDestiny 2and possibly make for a worthwhile purchase that is usually deemed anything but. Players would likely be proud to see the dark, rain-soaked environments ofCyberpunk 2077’s urban dystopiareflected in their characters' appearances, especially considering the genre-specific similarities between it andDestiny 2.
Destiny 2has certainly proven to miss the mark in previous crossover events, but aCyberpunk 2077crossover could interrupt that pattern by bringing something to the table that not only fits the bill but enhances it as well. Bungie’s partnership with CD Projekt Red forThe Witchercrossover eventalso gives it a headstart on aCyberpunkcrossover, so it would make sense in that regard. It’s high timeDestiny 2included ornaments from popular IPs that serve it rather than subtract from it, andCyberpunk 2077’s high-tech dystopian visuals and emphasis on personal expression make it one of the best options available for inspiration.
