New World’s developers at Amazon are hard at work improving the MMO. The team has even announced its first server merger for December 8, which is likely just one of many to happen after. Soon after that, however,New Worldwill be receiving its December update and with it a special holiday event. Before that arrives, however, Amazon has dropped the tentative December update on its Public Test Environment server. It has also shared patch notes for the update, including over a dozen new Perks players will be able to use.

Fourteen new Perks appear to be lined up for introduction toNew Worldin its December patch. The Perks look to be targeting several different specific areas. For example, there are several new Perks thatimprove gathering efficiency, offensive Perks that will reduce opponent healing effectiveness, Perks that improve fully charged attacks or attacks with active Grit, and also Perks that reduce damage from different sources.

The range of new Perks seem to be targeted by Amazon to address very specific lines of feedback fromNew Worldplayers. It’s not uncommon to seeNew Worldplayers frustrated with how long it takes to gather, an inability todeal with healing in PvP, Grit and charged attacks being high risk and low reward, or a lack of defensive Perks for tanks. These new Perks will provideNew Worldplayers some deeper optimization for the gear they wear.

Perks, for those unfamiliar, are abilities that are attached toweapons and pieces of armor. Each item can have between zero and three Perks, depending on its quality. For example, Common-quality items have zero Perks, while Epic-quality items have three. Weapons and armor can also have Gemstone slots, with gems that each provide a specific Perk for better optimization. Suffice to say,New Worldplayers spend a lot of time trying to acquire gear with the perfect Perks.

New Perks aren’t all that’s coming in the December patch, of course. The PRT patch notes also detail changes including a major change to PvP combat, withAmazonrewriting the formula for PvP damage due to issues with lower-level players having higher damage mitigation. Many ofNew World’s weapons have also been adjusted or have had known bugs fixed for the December Patch.

The biggest addition of the December update, of course, will beNew World’s Winter Convergence Event. Snow will fall more often, the Northern Lights will appear in the sky, and Yeti, the Winter Wanderer, will see fit to visit the land ofNew World. Players will be able to gather Winter Tokens throughout the event, which can be exchanged at Holiday Shops for unique cosmetics. It’ll be nice forNew Worldplayers to have some new content to keep the MMO fresh, in addition to all of the continued fixes from Amazon.
