Mobile developer Niantic has announced its 2020 slate of events forPokemon GO,Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, andIngress. While each of these mobile games will have smaller in-game events, the schedule is focused on live events likeSafari Zonesand fan festivals.
Pokemon GO 2020 Events
WithPokemon GOsales continuing to dominatethe mobile landscape, Niantic has big plans for 2020 on a global scale. While the developer was not yet ready to reveal the location for its annual Fan Fest, the first half of the year looks stacked forPokemon GOfans.
Starting in early February and running through May, there is some form ofPokemon GOevent planned:

Safari Zones are Niantic-sanctioned gatherings that include live activities like music and sports as well as increased spawns forrare PokemoninPokemon GO. Each event has been very successful for Niantic so interested Pokemon GO fans should purchase tickets sooner rather than later.
Niantic selected St. Louis, Liverpool, and Philadelphia as the winners of the NianticLive2020 contest, which allowed cities and governments to submit their favorite cities as potential hosts forPokemon GOevents. Because of the influx of attendees and the potential positive impact on these city’s economies, there were likely a lot of enticing proposals for Niantic to sift through.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite 2020 Events
While successful in its own right,Harry Potter: Wizards Unitedoesn’t seem to have the same rabid fan base as Pokemon GO. As a result, there is only one event announced for 2020 – the second annualHarry Potter: Wizards Unitefan festival.
At present, Niantic does not have any additional information to add about the Harry Potter fan festival like a location or planned festivities but that should be announced soon. Last year’s event took place in Indianapolis and featured new oddities and encounters and a central goal ofcontaining the Calamity. It was a two-day event in late August/early September that offered general access tickets at $30 or early access tickets for $40.
Much likePokemon GO’s Fan Fest, the expectation is thatHarry Potter: Wizards Unite’s fan fest will be even bigger and better in its second year. More events, more attendance, and more unique opportunities should be high on the priority list for Niantic.
Ingress 2020 Events
And finally,Ingresshas a couple of events planned for the first half of 2020. As the foundation forPokemon GO(andHarry Potterafter that)Ingresshas a lot of familiar gameplay elements and is plenty popular in its own right. The events for 2020 so far include:
