While it certainly isn’t perfect, fans are carefully optimistic about this series, which is a positive sign. The first season of Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action seriesis going to adapt the East Blue Saga from the manga, and while Netflix is going to be faithful to the source material, there will be some changes here and there in the East Blue in the live-action series.

5Character Introductions

One of the things that almost certainly will change in some ways in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action seriesis character introductions. Both the anime and the manga differ somewhat when it comes to introducing characters in their story. This applies to boththe Straw Hat Piratesas well as the side characters.

For instance, in the manga, fans get to see Luffy in a flashback first and then set out on his journey much later. In the anime, fans see him set out on his journey first and the flashback of Romance Dawn comes later. Similarly, Nami is introduced to the fans in Orange Town in the manga, however, in the anime, she is seen robbing pirate ships beforehand. In Netflix’s live-action version ofOne Piece, these changes will be apparent. In fact, fans have already seen some of them in the teaser trailer. Taz Skylar, who plays Sanji, could very well have his introduction tweaked a bit, if the teaser trailer is anything to go by, and that is something that fans should be very intrigued by. This isn’t a bad change, just one that will be different from the manga, potentially.

One Piece Live Action Outfits

4Unique Outfits

One of the best changes that Netflix’s One Piece Live Action serieswill be making is to give the Straw Hat Pirates different outfits.Throughout the majority of the East Blue Saga, all members of the Straw Hat Pirates keep to their original outfits. While Oda does change them moving forward in his story, for the East Blue Saga, he stuck to them. In Netflix’s One Piece Live Action series, the Straw Hat Pirates will be seen wearing different outfits throughout the first season.

While some fans may not like it at first, it must be remembered that these outfits are not going to be randomly picked for them. Instead, they will be taken from Oda’s very own volume covers as well as colorspreads. This means that whatever outfit the Straw Hat Pirates were wearing in the colorspreads will be carefully chosen for them throughout their journey across the East Blue. As the iconic outfits these characters wear are going to be included, fans will also get to see a refreshing take on them as their wardrobe gets expanded in the East Blue Saga.

3New Villains

The vast majority of the villains that the fans see in the East Blue Saga are the same in both the anime and the manga. However, Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action serieswill most certainly change that up. There are going to be new additions to the villain cast of Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action seriesand fans have already seen a glimpse of that in the teaser trailer. In the teaser,Zoro was seen fighting against Mr 7, who was sent by Mr. 0, the leader of the Baroque Works, to recruit him for his organization.

As has been confirmed by Oda, Zoro ended up killing Mr 7. This combat doesn’t make its way to the anime or the manga ofOne Piece. However, it will be a part of Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action adaptation. This is proof enough that they will be different villains in the East Blue Saga of Netflix’s version ofOne Piece.Perhaps, Mr. 7 will be the only addition, or, there might be some more and that is something that fans should be very excited about.

2New Fights

New villains in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action serieswould also breed new fights. This shouldn’t be a surprise to the fans at all. Fans have already seen Zoro fight against Mr. 7 in the teaser trailer and this fight didn’t feature either the manga or the anime. This means that this clash is going to be a live-action original fight that is going to end in quite a gruesome manner, with Zoro killing Mr 7. However,Zoro’s fight against Mr. 7is not the only new one that will feature in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action series.

Fans also see Crescent Moon Galley in the teaser trailer for One Piece Live Action during the Baratie arc. Galley was nowhere to be seen in the Baratie arc in either the anime or the manga. He is actually a character present in the prototype ofOne Piece, Romance Dawn, that was drawn by Oda. The crew for Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action serieshas incorporated Galley in the Baratie arc and the teaser trailer, fans can see Sanji approach both Galley and Fullbody at the same time. This suggests that there will be some combat that will ensue there and, once again, fans could be treated with a completely new fight.

1Aged Up Characters

Perhaps the biggest change when it comes to comparing the East Blue Saga in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Actionand the original is going to be the age of the characters. The actors who played the Straw Hat Pirates are, generally speaking, much older than their manga counterparts. While some of them can certainly pass for their manga ages, others can’t, especially when the series continues down the line.

This would mean that Netflix will have to either age up the characters, or attempt to pass them off as younger. Either way, it is not going to be accurate to the manga in any way. This doesn’t have to be bad as Netflix’s version ofOne Pieceis likely going to be aimed at a more mature audience. If that is the case, then aging up the characters does seem like the appropriate choice.
