Summary
The world of Pandora is dangerous, deadly, and filled with utter mayhem. It’s not a planet anyone should visit unless they have a death wish or a desire to seek riches, which is exactly why Vault Hunters inBorderlandsflock there. Despite theharsh nature and populationof Pandora, it hasn’t stopped the occasional hero from rising up to stir the pot.
Heroes inBorderlandsare a strange thing, since at the end of the day, everyone is more or less out to get rich for themselves. Nevertheless, the heroics of theseBorderlandscharacters cannot be denied, as even they have forsaken wealth and fame to do the right thing.
6Scooter
Sacrifices Himself For Others
Upon first impression, some might see Scooter as just an ordinary Southern mechanic, but he’s far more than that.Scooter is smart, and he’s used that intelligence to aid the people of Sanctuary by helping them ascend to the sky to become an impenetrable fortress against Hyperion. He uses his knowledge of machines for good, and he is a hero till the end.
Scooter just wanted to continue his humble business of Catch-a-Rides, where people of Pandora could enjoy his vehicles for a fee. Sadly, Scooter was killed in space when he was helping people tryto leave Pandora, as his hand managed to get stuck in a rocket. He was okay with sacrificing himself for others, and those with him got to hear one last hoorah of his catchphrase.
5Angel
A Siren Who Aids Others Despite Her Father’s Oppressive Protection
The Guardian Angel of the Vault Hunters, Angel would send people to Pandora in search of the treasure that all Vault Hunters seek. Whilst her goals were originally made to aid her father,Handsome Jack, and the Hyperion corporation, she turned on her father and sacrificed her life so that the Vault Hunters could free their friend, and live life outside of her manipulation.
Whilst Angel worked for her father, she was an unwilling prisoner, and her Siren abilities made her a powerful ally to have, especially with her Phaseshift abilities. Whilst Angel was not always all good, she used her powers in a heroic way to aid the Vault Hunters, even when it cost her the life she never had.
4Krieg
A Former Bandit, Still Psycho, Who Fell In Love
Few Bandit Psychos in Pandora manage to claim the title of hero, but few Bandit Psychos are Krieg. Living an abusive life, Krieg would have his mind torn in two. The saner part of Krieg has essentially given up and lets the psycho side take control of Pandora. However, that doesn’t mean the sane Krieg is completely passive, as he swears to kill them both if Krieg harms innocent people. As such, Krieg elects to fight mercenaries and fugitives.
Krieg also became a hero when he was inspired by Maya, a Siren who both sides of Krieg totally fell in love with. The fact that Krieg became a hero through the fire in his heart shows that even if he is a murderous rampaging Pandora Bandit, he is still faithful and heroic when it counts.
3Roland
A Soldier Who Attempts To Liberate Pandora From Hyperion
Starting out as a typical soldier, Roland would be yetanother gun for the Crimson Lance, a private military for the Atlas corporation. It didn’t take long for Roland to make a name as a Vault Hunter, and then come back to claim the Crimson Lance as his own. The Lancemen became loyal to Roland, who used their military might for the good of the people, rather than the gain of corporations.
Roland dedicated his life to the fight against corporations and Handsome Jack’s Hyperion, who sought to scorch Pandora into nothingness to rebuild it for citizens. Roland was the definition of a hero. A Vault Hunter who used his strengths for the good of those who could not fight.
2Maya
The Sole Siren Protector Of Athenas
When Maya was found, she was given to the Order of the Impending Storm due to the obvious nature of her Siren abilities. There, she was trained by monks on the planet Athenas, where she would free herself from their restrictive prophetic shackles and forge her own identity as a Vault Hunter. Years after the liberation of Pandora, Maya elected to return to Athenas to be the planet’s sole protector.
Maya dedicated her life to beingthe hero of Athenas, and defending it against all evils. Maya even sacrificed herself for Ava, a young girl who she saw the potential to become an even greater Siren, which would require her to pass on her lessons and her powers. This showcased that Maya would put the future before herself, even if death was the only way.
1Lilith
The Hero Siren Who Wants To Save Planets
Lilith is perhaps the ultimate hero of theBorderlandsseries. She is one of the six Sirens, beings of unimaginable powers. Lilith is perhaps the one Siren who has mastered her abilities, and she uses this cosmic power for the good of the universe, and the friends she has made within it. Lilith may have started as the standard treasure desiring Vault Hunter, but she became far more than that whenshe developed the moniker of Firehawkand used her powers to quell violence on Pandora.
Even with the death of Roland, Lilith stepped up to become the leader of Sanctuary and bring the fight to Hyperion to end a corporate war that could have seen Pandora scorched of life. Lilith will do what she must to protect innocent people, even if it means sacrificing her own life.
