TheAftermathexpansion brought asecond Kombat packthat reintroduces some fighters. Sheeva and Fujin are now back, as well as a new addition: RoboCop, based on the 1980s action movie hero. The update didn’t just focus on these new introductions; the bulk of the changes were to existing fighters. Some updates, like the change to Baraka’s Blade Charge, now break armor. Most of the changes focused on “lingering visual effects” being fixed and damage numbers being tweaked (like D’Vorah’s Bugging Out, Tsetse, and Recluse, which all deal higher damage now).
The patch also fixed a fewStage Fatalityissues with the fighters. An issue was causing “visual obstruction during Spawn’s fatalities on Prehistoric Age Arena.” Although the issue was said to be rare, not being able to see the stage or one’s opponent could be majorly frustrating for any player. D’Vorah also had an issue where fatalities would cause her Ovipositors to become “misaligned.” Although this probably isn’t a game breaking issue, it was a problem, and it’s nice the devs are paying attention to the little things too.
Several frame counts were reduced or increased, especially with Erron Black, Skarlet, and Raiden, among others. A previousMK11patch this year madeframe adjustments to Erron Black, so it seems NetherRealm Studios is needing to make continual adjustments to this fighter. A lot of his abilities needed to be tweaked this time around, and he was one of the fighters the devs seemed to be focusing on the most this time. Erron Black, Kabal, Raiden, Shao Kahn, and Shang Tsung all had lengthier patch notes this time around.
With so many fighters available,MK11players have no shortage of options. If they aren’t enjoying a particular fighter, they can choose another. The three new fighters give players access tosix new fatalities. The patch notes show the devs are still giving a lot of attention to each fighter, so that no matter who players choose, they’ll have a fun time.
Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
