ACall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2player took a page out of Jason Bourne’s book and single-handedly took down an enemy helicopter. It’s pretty common for players to use rocket launchers to shoot down helicopters inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but this player managed to do it with only a rifle.
It’s not typical to see vehicles inCall of Dutymultiplayer, as large-scale battlegrounds with vehicles included have generally been a feature of theBattlefieldseries. WithModern Warfare 2’s Ground War game mode, however,Call of Dutyplayers can experience the havoc of destroying infantry squads from the comfort of an armored tank or heavily-armed helicopter. The inclusion of these vehicles opens up some interesting new tactics, as well as some awesome plays.

In a video posted to theModern Warfare 2subreddit, player Drzombixx_tortellini showcased their friend’s prowess. The clip begins with their friend looking out of their own helicopter when an enemy helicopter moves into frame. Without a moment’s hesitation, the player jumps out and plummets toward the enemy chopper. At the last second, they activate their parachute and glide around to the open ramp, then board the helicopter. They quickly gun down the enemy player standing on the ramp, then spray more bullets into the interior of the vehicle, taking out another enemy. Then Drzombixx_tortellini’s friend leaps out of the helicopter and parachutes to the ground. In a cinematic moment, the enemy helicopter crashes into the roof while they’re still parachuting down. This isn’t the first time aModern Warfare 2player has had an incredible helicopter-killing moment, but it doesn’t make it less impressive.
The addition of Ground War toModern Warfare 2has definitely improved the game’s experience, since it allows for a more tactical combined arms gameplay experience, and can also lead to awesome plays reminiscent of movies likeJason BourneorMission: Impossible. Of course, it’s not as funny as seeing anawfulModern Warfare 2helicopter takeoffend in the chopper getting run over by a tank, but it’s good to have a balance between humor and skillful plays.
Players on the receiving end of plays like this probably won’t be as enthused about their helicopter joyride being cut short, but they can always try and get some payback. That may have happened to Drzombixx_tortellini’s friend too, as the end of the clips shows them getting killed by a melee attacker. WithCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Season 01 Reloadedupdate recently dropping, it’s likely that more clips of awesome plays will continue to pop up on the internet.
