Minecraft Legends' procedural generation will offer players a plethora of new experiences to be had with every playthrough. Players can possibly discover new biomes, structures, and situations that may have not occurred or were found in previous sessions. It helps retain that “new game” feeling for much longer.
If there is any deciding factor on what kind of impact procedural generation will leave onMinecraft Legends, it’s biome generation. Biomes among the most iconic aspect ofMinecraft’s terrain generation.Minecraft Legendsshould aim to include the base game’s rarer biomes to help expand on that feeling of discovery and wonder.

The Impact of Minecraft’s Rarest Biomes
Minecraft’s best biomeshave all had a big part in making its terrain generation one of the unique in the franchise. From frozen wastes littered with frostbitten ice towers to the colorful yet barren ridges of the badlands, there is little it does not have to offer. However, some are much rarer than others, making coming across them all the more exciting. For that reason,Minecraft Legendsshould include some of these rare biomes, as it greatly enhances various aspects of gameplay. There is much more to gain from the inclusion of rare biomes than there is to not.
Minecraft Legendsrandom map generationlends itself to some ofMinecraft’s greatest features, most notably its exploration. Exploring inMinecraftis not integral to achieving goals, as it is much more of an experience than it is something to accomplish. With the inclusion of rare biomes, exploration is made more exciting by giving players something more unique to work toward. For example, many players could give themselves the goal of establishing bases in said rare biomes. Simply coming across one adds variety that would not exist otherwise, like how mushroom fields biomes provide a much-needed respite from the average desert or forest.
Locations like this also provide rare resources that can only be found within the specific biomes, which is something that could be carried over toMinecraft Legends. For example, perhaps the elusive mushroom biome’s mushrooms could provide some benefit or act as a crafting material for a unique structure. There could also be a unique andMinecraft Legends-exclusive mobonly found in the mushroom fields biome, such as a zombie with mushrooms sticking out of its head. The same could be said for other rare biomes such as the badlands and ice spike biome. Including the biomes would not only add much needed variety to the possible mobs players could employ, but it would also encourage exploration. The chance to find a biome that could provide a unique advantage would be hard to look over.
Minecraft Legendswill likely see various updates throughout its lifespan, both in the form of updates and DLC. One piece of content the developer could choose to focus on is the addition of new biomes throughout the game’s lifespan. Not only would it freshen up overworld exploration every so often, but it would also be a rich source of potential updates and possible creative freedom for the develop to employ. Exploring an extinct biome may allow for an expansion ofMinecraft Legends' lore, expanding upon the world’s history while also helping create more unique environments not found in the base game.
AsMinecraft Legends’release dateinches closer and closer, excitement for the game grows. It will likely offer a strong spin-off experience, considering it is very similar to the base game while also retaining its own identity. Hopefully, players will be able to experience the same sense of euphoria they get from coming across a rare biome in the base game by finding some inMinecraft Legends.
Minecraft Legendsreleases on April 18 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
