Summary
YouTubestreamer Ludwig has decided to cancel his major streamer event, the Mogul Chessboxing for 2023. This might come as a surprise, considering the huge success of his previous event, still available onYouTube. However, Ludwig has provided some compelling reasons for its cancelation.
Last year,Ludwigorganized the inaugural Mogul Chessboxing event. The event featured a group of influencers who stepped into a boxing ring to compete in chess matches and rounds ofSuper Smash Bros. Following that, they had to engage in a real boxing match. There were seven chess matches in total, and two Smashboxing rounds. The Mogul Chessboxing event drew an enormous audience and became the most-watchedSuper Smash Brosevent; the YouTube replay alone has garnered 3.8 million views and over 154k likes.

Despite the astonishing popularity of the previous event, Ludwig announced that this year’s event would be canceled. The announcement came directly from his Twitter account on September 27. The streamer expressed feeling “super bummed” about having to make this announcement, among other things, due to concerns for the safety of the competitors. He went on to say that this cancelation marked the biggest failure of his entire career. However, he also added that despite the sad news, it would somehow motivate him to be “the best creator I can be in 2024.”
Ludwig is one of the most popular streamers, and his post quickly reached a large number of people who wasted no time in offering their support and words of encouragement, from fans of his work to colleagues and friends. The YouTuber and streamer known as Krinios stated that even with this setback, Ludwig was “Still the greatest to ever do it,” assuring that 2024 would be his year. Even the official chess.com page offered its support, affirming the same.
Ludwig clearly has a large and loyal community that follows him. They support him not only in the good times, like last year whenLudwig won the Streamer of the Year award, but also in the challenging times like this.
This is not the first time the streamer has faced disappointing news, as in the past, Ludwig has dealt with YouTube channel suspensions and other controversies like when hedecided to leave Twitch to exclusively stream on YouTube. The cancelation of his event has been just a stumble that, while it may sadden his fans, also leaves them eager to see how Ludwig will reinvent himself now.
