So just which heroes should new players pay attention to? Which Champions should beginners pick to best acquaint them with the new styleWild Riftnow offers to the mobile MOBA genre?
Updated July 27, 2025 by Rhenn Taguiam:League of Legends: Wild Riftserves as the mobile iteration of the hit MOBA, and players expect their favorite Champions to become a part of its starting roster. Sadly, as a relatively new game,Wild Riftonly offers 62 Champions out of its 155 PC Champions. Granted, 62 is still a huge number for a mobile MOBA, but it still means a few Champions being left out of its roster. For fans new to the game or to the franchise, 62 can still become overwhelming if they don’t know what they’re looking for. Thankfully, some of the best Champions for beginners are easy to grasp and tinker with. Players who want accessible Champions inWild Riftcan depend on a steam golem, a nine-tailed fox, an impulsive criminal, a monster hunter, and a berserker to get the job done.

15Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank might appear as a jolly mechanical giant, but he’s a behemoth to behold as a tank and support Champion. His arsenal consists mainly of a high-armor ultimate, knock-up opportunities, and stunning potential - making him a suitable Champion in the Baron Lane.
His Mana Barrier (Passive) gives him extra defenses with a damage-absorption field that CDs every minute. Meanwhile, his Overdrive (S2) gives him an attack speed boost to open more devastating combos. His Rocket Grab (S1) can bring enemies closer to him, while Power Fist (S3) gives a knock-up critical hit. Lastly, his Static Field (Ultimate) marks enemies for a devastating damage-over-time - perfect for team fights.

14Ahri
Ahri the Nine-Tailed Fox has an innate connection to Runeterra’s latent powers, allowing her to manipulate orbs of energy to her liking. As a ranged mage, she specializes in blink-based movement, charming, and high magic damage - making her fit for Mid Lane.
Her Charm (S3) deals damage and forces enemies to walk closer to her. Meanwhile, her Essence Theft (Passive) gives her a nice sustain courtesy of a stack-based heal. Moreover, her Orb of Deception (S1) is a multi-attack boomerang perfect for single-target strikes. She can switch up her targeting with Fox-Fire (S2) and its multi-target seeking attack. Lastly, her Spirit Rush (Ultimate) is a great multi-target blink attack that enables Ahri to swiftly attack opponents around her.

13Jinx
Hyperactive and impulsive criminal Jinx loves to wreak havoc wherever she goes, and she packs a dangerous arsenal coming toWild Rift. As a marksman, Jinx possesses two basic attacks, a devastating projectile ultimate, and a trap to disorient enemies. Due to her high-damage nature, Jinx works best in the Dragon Lane.
When Jinx triggers Get Excited (Passive), takedowns on structures and champions give her a movement and attack speed boost. This works well with her switching weapons, as Switcheroo (S1) gives her AOE or fast single-target options. Meanwhile, Zap (S2) gives her a stun, while Flame Chompers (S3) is a rooting trap ability. Lastly, her Super Mega Death Rocket (Ultimate) is a devastating AOE that can take down Champions in fierce firefights.

12Vayne
Monster hunter Vayne won’t let anything stop her quest for vengeance, and her skills are put to good use inWild Riftas a marksman and assassin. She boasts high physical damage with multiple opportunities for burst damage, stuns, and devastating AOE. In turn, Vayne works best in the Dragon Lane.
With Night Hunter (Passive), Vayne moves faster when engaging Champions. This ability works great with Tumble (S1), as this dash also gives her next attack a 40-percent damage boost. Meanwhile, her SIlver Bolts (S2) can either boost her damage, or get more attack speed with an emergency heal. Additionally, Condemn (S3) is a handy knockdown ability. Lastly, her Final Hour (Ultimate) increases her base attack and improves her Passive and S1 greatly - maximizing her combat potential.

11Olaf
Olaf seeks death in magnificent combat, and he rushes headstrong to war as a fighter inWild Rift. His monstrous ultimate coupled with his innate life steal and attack speed boosts make him quite fit for either the Jungle or Baron Lanes.

Befitting his warrior archetype, Olaf’s Berserker Rage (Passive) gives him more attack speed the closer he gets to death. Meanwhile, Vicious Strikes (S2) boost his lifesteal and attack speed to accommodate combat encounters. Additionally, Reckless Swing (S3) is a strong dash attack that damages Olaf if his target doesn’t die due to the strike. His straightforward Undertow (S1) is a handy slow ability. Lastly, Ragnarok (Ultimate) boosts his attack and grants CC immunity, alongside a speed boost when approaching Champions - heavily encouraging teamfights.
10Garen (Fighter/Tank)
Among all Champions inLeague, Garen appears to havethe most straightforward mechanics within lanes. InWild Rift, Garen retains most of these perks, allowing players to go toe-to-toe with most Champions without worrying about resources. Garen’s Perseverance (Passive) gives him decent health generation, allowing him to retreat without going back to base. This Passive works well with Decisive Strike (S1) and Judgment (S3), as they give him a speed boost as well as decent attacks.
Meanwhile, he also comes with Courage (S1) which gives him decent damage reduction and crowd control resistance. Lastly, his Demacian Justice (Ultimate) deals massive AOE damage to enemies.

9Ashe (Marksman/Support)
Despite her low-key appearance, Ashe the Frost Archer hasone of the most versatile Marksmankits in the game. Her Frost Shot (Passive) enables her to focus on slow effects, with her crits becoming more powerful slows. Meanwhile, her Hawkshot (S3) allows her to use her Hawk Spirit to scout the map for targets. These all come to a head whenever she uses her other abilities.
Ashe gets Focus whenever she attacks. She can use Ranger’s Focus (S1) to use her Focus to get an attack speed boost and create flurries instead of single-arrow basic attacks. Her Volley (S2) also fires arrows in a cone that applies her Passive. Lastly, Enchanted Crystal Arrow (Ult) is an ice arrow players can guide that stuns Champions for longer periods of time the farther it’s traveled, alongside dealing AOE to surrounding enemies.

8Annie (Mage/Support)
Lovable Annie and Tibbers have made their way toWild Riftas early as its Alpha stages. However, it makes sense for Annie to be a must-pick for beginners given her straightforward toolkit. Her Pyromania (Passive) gives her a free stun if she casts an offensive spell after casting four spells. This ability works in tandem with Disintegrate (S1), as it lets Annie summon a fireball that refunds the Mana and cooldown if the attack kills the target. Meanwhile, Incinerate (S2) unleashes a fire cone that deals AOE.
She also has defensive abilities, such as Molten Shield (S3), which enables her to cast a shield that absorbs damage and deals damage to the shield’s attackers. Lastly, her Summon: Tibbers (Ult) enables Annie to have backup in the form of Tibbers.

7Sona (Support/Mage)
Sona’s nature as a Support/Mage hinges on skill combination, as her “songs” (spells) also grant bonuses to nearby allies. Additionally, her Power Chord (Passive) gives both a magic damage boost and an additional effect based on Sona’s third spell cast. Her primary damage spell is Hymn of Valor (S1), which damages two nearby enemies and gives allies a temporary damage boost. Her Crescendo (Ult) also deals massive damage to enemies while stunning them.
Meanwhile, Sona has a healthy mix of support abilities. For instance, her Aria of Perseverance (S2) heals wounded allies and gives them a protective shield. Lastly, Song of Celerity (S3) gives Sona and her nearby allies a speed boost.
6Master Yi (Assassin/Fighter)
Players who want to train on using Assassins and more complex kits would appreciate Master Yi. Despite his rather flexible nature, Master Yi’s kit remains simple enough for beginners to play around with. For instance, his Double Strike (Passive) enables him to strike twice in some basic attacks. However, players might soon realize thatdepending on their item, Master Yi’s Wuju Style (S3) gives bonus true damage on basics that, combined with Double Strike, can deal devastating damage without using skills.

Meanwhile, Alpha Strike (S1) enables Master Yi to attack multiple units within a target path without being targetable himself. His basics also reduce S1’s cooldown. Additionally, Meditate (S2) grants him healing and damage reduction. Lastly, Highlander (Ult) not only boosts his movement and attack speed but makes him immune to slow as well.
