Apple’s upcoming Godzilla series continues to grow its cast with the addition of two Hollywood heavy-hitters. Along with names like Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, and Joe Tippett,Varietyis reporting that the father and son acting duo of Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell will also be joining the show.

The series will focus on the aftermath ofGodzilla: King of the Monsters, as the world grapples with the new reality that giant monsters are real, and they could emerge at any moment to level entire cities. The show will also focus more on the mysterious organization known as Monarch, and one family’s connection to it. No information has been given regarding Kurt or Wyatt Russell’s roles, but Los Angels Magazine film columnistJeff Sneider claimed on Twitterthat Wyatt would be playing the younger version of Kurt’s character.

If that was true, it would be the second time Wyatt has played a younger version of his father, following an appearance inthe 1998 sci-fi movieSoldier.Wyatt also appeared in uncredited roles in two other Kurt Russell movies:Escape From L.A.andOverboard(which also starred his mother, Goldie Hawn). Kurt and Wyatt are also both part of the MCU, having played roles inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2andThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, respectively. However, even with an upcomingThunderboltsmovie, Wyatt has said he has not heard from the studio abouthis character, John Walker aka US Agent, returning.

Legendary Television is producing the new Godzilla series, and it will be executive produced by co-creators Chris Black and Matt Fraction. So far, there have not been any announcements of cast members who also appeared in any ofthe Monsterverse movies, includingGodzillaandGodzilla vs. Kong. The first two episodes will be directed byWandaVision’s Matt Shakman, adding yet another Marvel connection to this project. Shakman will also serve as an executive producer.

Apple TV Plus continues to grow its slate of streaming titles, adding this new series to a roster that now includes shows likeServant,Physical,Central Park, and therecently Emmy-nominatedSeverance. Godzilla had previously appeared on television, albeit in animated form. His first show premiered back in 1978 and was produced by Hanna Barbera (that whole series can be streamed for free on YouTube). The second show was an animated continuation of the 1998 Godzilla movie that starred Matthew Broderick and featured the legendary kaiju showing up in New York.
