Nintendo’s first reveal ofKirby and the Forgotten Landlast year generated plenty of noise from Nintendo fans, many of whom were excited to see Kirby making the transition into a fully 3D adventure. A new trailer for this game recently dropped, giving fans a better idea of what to expect from the game. Despite theKirbyfranchise’s penchant for adorable and cute aesthetics and design, it is no stranger to diving into darker subjects and themes near the endgame. This is especially prevalent withinKirby: Super StarandKirby: Return to Dreamland, two games that contain the iconic villains Marx and Magolor, foes that stand out in comparison toKirby villains like King Dedede. They both betray Kirby at the moment he lets his guard down, turning into the final boss with disturbing imagery. Many fans are already wary that Elfilin will be following the same path.
Much of the caution comes from how Elfilin presents himself as a friendly ally, which Magolor and Marx were initially at the start of theKirbygames they appear in. They both enlist Kirby’s help to save the world, though in reality it helps them further their own agendas. Many are suspecting that Elfilin’s cutesy nature to assist Kirby disguises his goals, and that he will most likely become the final boss.
Another factor that adds to the theories Elfilin will be a big bad are his ears. Part of it seems to be chipped, which may indicate that there is a piece that he will be fighting to get back, which would contribute to him transforming into his final form. Again, this is all speculation until more information forKirby and the Forgotten Landis revealed, but the discussion is interesting.
