7Cursed Energy And Jujutsu Sorcery
In its unique power system, theJujutsu Kaisenseries has introduced cursed energy, which is akin to Nen inHunter x Hunteror Chakra inNaruto. With cursed energy, various characters develop special techniques tied to themselves or their bloodline.
As the main power system of the series, cursed energy is something that has existed for decades and serves as one of the fundamental principles of the series.Cursed energy is what makes jujutsu sorcery possible, as with it, various techniques and domain expansions can be utilized. Moreover, despite the variations in the use of cursed energy, the series has shown that cursed energy follows some fundamental principles that no one is exempt from.
6Formation And Nature Of Curses
So far, theJujutsu Kaisenseries has not shown any ‘good’ curse. This is because curses are naturally evil as they are formed from the cursed energy that stems from the negative emotions of humans towards a certain thing or object, be it fear or hate. While the history and origin of curses are unknown, some speculate that curses have always existed alongside humans and their negative emotions.

As shown in theJujutsu Kaisenseries, curses form after leaked cursed energy from humans (non-sorcerers) is deposited in a spot after a period of time. This makes curses form more easily in places with dark rumors or around mysteries containing famed monsters or ghosts.
5Sukuna’s Fingers And Their Significance
Itadori Yuuji swallowing Sukuna’s fingers began the story depicted inJujutsu Kaisen. During the Heian era,Ryomen Sukuna was hailed as the King of Curses. However, he started out as a sorcerer before he turned himself into a cursed object/curse.
Unwilling to die, Sukuna split his power into 20 parts that took the shape of fingers and turned them into indestructible cursed objects. After so long, he was incarnated after Itadori consumed one of his fingers. Surprisingly, Sukuna was unable to completely take over Itadori. Because of this, he then transferred himself into Megumi Fushiguro, where he is fully in control. Apart from being a major antagonist himself, Sukuna and his fingers play an important role in the series as the series revolves around collecting all 20 of Sukuna’s fingers. However, as Sukuna has managed to gain full control of Megumi’s body, the main narrative might change.

Heavenly restrictions are one of the most intriguing aspects of theJujutsu Kaisenseries. With a heavenly restriction, a supposedly weak sorcerer could become immensely strong and vice versa. As seen in the series so far, heavenly restrictions are bindings that are placed on a sorcerer’s body from birth, which enhance or limit a person’s cursed energy in exchange for limitations or improvements on the person’s body.
One of the most popular applications ofa heavenly restrictionis Toji Fushiguro. Despite not possessing a single ounce of cursed energy, Toji was incredibly feared by sorcerers. His physical prowess was off the charts, and his lack of cursed energy made him more dangerous to sorcerers as opposed to less.
3Special Grade Curses And Their Threat
According to the hierarchy of curses portrayed in theJujutsu Kaisenseries, special-grade curses are anomalies with immense destructive power. The title of special grade is often reserved for extremely dangerous curses, and few can match up to them.
However, with the inclusion of Itadori Yuuji and Ryomen Sukuna to the mix,special-grade curseshave been popping up everywhere, and only a select few sorcerers can match up to them. Even a powerful grade one sorcerer like Nanami died to such curses, and with only four registered sorcerers ranked as special grade, many more sorcerers must come up to deal with special grade curses.
2The Power Of Cursed Tools And Weapons
For curses and jujutsu sorcerers to further increase their attacking power, they use cursed tools. These are tools imbued with cursed energy that makes them effective against curses. With cursed tools, even non-sorcerers can combat cursed spirits.
Like jujutsu sorcerers and curses, cursed tools are separated into grades. The higher the potency of cursed energy in a cursed tool, the higher the grade. Moreover, most cursed tools have cursed techniques imbued in them. This grants them special abilities that make them more useful to a sorcerer when in battle. As seen withthe Inverted Spear of Heavenand Playful Cloud, cursed tools can be incredibly destructive when used properly.
1Cursed Techniques
While cursed energy is incredibly important to jujutsu sorcerers and curses alike, utilizing it through cursed techniques is what truly makes it shine. To utilize a cursed technique, either the process of Lapse or Reversal is used. Lapse is the natural and neutral state of a cursed technique. Reversal, on the other hand, is more complex as it involves multiplying negative cursed energy against itself to produce positive cursed energy. With positive cursed energy, fatal injuries can be healed, making it a highly sought-after skill.
As seen in the series, not everyone can utilize a particular cursed technique, as some techniques are innate to a person, their mannerisms, and body compositions (for curses). Apart from innate techniques, other techniques, such as barrier techniques and anti-domain techniques, also exist.
