Actor Jared Leto has recently confessed that he would like to seeMorbiusfight all threeSpider-Manactors at once in an epic battle scene. A few days away from its release, Sony’s highly-anticipatedMorbiusis finally about to debut in theaters after a series of delays that pushed the film back by nearly two years.

Morbiusfollows the character of Michael Morbius, who accidentally turns himself into a vampire while in search for a cure to his rare blood disease. However, with this newfound sense of identity, Morbius is granted superhero strength and powers as well. The film also marks the official comeback of Michael Keaton’s infamous villain, Vulture, who many fans know from his ominous presence inSpider-Man: Homecoming. The world ofMorbiusalso co-exists and resides withinSony’s Spider-Man Universe. This includes Tom Hardy’sVenomand the upcomingKraven The Hunterstarring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the main lead. It’s still complicated, however, because technically the SSU doesn’t actually encompass the entire Spider-Man franchise due to its connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. Actor Tom Holland premiered as the MCU’s latest rendition of Spider-Man back in 2016, carrying out the legacy of his iconic co-stars, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who also all previously have played the famous role of Spider-Man. Audiences were incredibly emotional and pleased seeing all threeSpider-Manactors unite and come together for the first time on screen inNo Way Home.

Now, it seems as though Leto already has some ideas and tricks up his sleeve as to what he would like to see happen in the future for theSpider-Manfranchise. In a recent interview withComicBook’sPhase Zeropodcast, Leto was asked which out of the threeSpider-Manactors he could possibly seeMorbiuschallenging in the future. He answered, “Well, I’ll tell you, I’ll take them all, my friend. I’ll take ‘em’… I’m not scared. I’m not scared, but, I have to say there’ssomething about Tom Holland’s Spider-Manand Morbius being a new chapter in the universe that seems quite fitting. I would love to see them get in the ring with one another, these two characters. I think Tom’s just, you know, done a phenomenal job, and he’s a great actor. He just brings a lot of energy and humor to the role.”

Seeing this showdown become a reality isn’t outside the realm of possibility given Leto’s recent comments aboutwhereMorbiusfits in the multiverse, plus the aforementioned team-up between the three Spider-Man actors. For many long time fans of the franchise and original comic books, this was something that they had been waiting decades to see, allowing for a strong wave of nostalgia to hit audiences right in their soft spots. When audiences witnessed Marvel opening the door for all three versions of Spider-Man from separate multiverses to stand alongside one another in a single film, it allowed for a realm of possibilities for the future to open. This scene could also mark the era of Marvel potentially doing more crossovers across various, other popular MCU franchises, opening the door for it to become more of a regular thing.

AsMorbius’ theatrical debut inches closer and closer, fans have been holding out hope that the movie will somehow provide some form of clarity regarding the complicated relationship between Sony villains and their Spider-Man competitors. Throughout the entire duration of Leto’s promotional press tour forMorbius, he has made it a point to mention and specifically reference a series of Marvel characters that he would like to see his character eventually crossover with in the near future - most notablyRobert Downey Jr.‘sIron Man(although that may no longer be an option, given that his character was sadly killed off inAvengers: Endgame). Until then, fans will just have to wait and see whatMorbiushas in store for them.

Morbiushits theaters on April 1st, 2022.
