Last weekend, HBO revealed yet another trailer for itsThe Last of Usdrama series, With Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey filling in the lead roles of Joel and Ellie respectively, the 2023 series will follow the story of Naughty Dog’s award-winning 2013 video game of the same name.January 15 cannot come fast enough, as the recent trailer showed the drama adapting more iconic scenes from its source material.
With the anticipation for the HBO drama series rising, it would be as good a time as any to bringThe Last of Usvideo game to as many platforms as possible. PlayStation owners already have their fair share of the experience with the title, as the game was released on the PlayStation 3 before being remastered twice; once for the PlayStation 4 and another time for the PlayStation 5. Still, Sony and Naughty Dog would benefit greatly from releasing the PC port ofThe Last of Us Part Ialongside the HBO drama series.

The Last of Us Is Already Planned for PC
When a definitive version of Naughty Dog’s post-pandemic game calledThe Last of Us Part Iwas announced, the developers said that the title would first release on the PlayStation 5 before being ported to the PC. The remake/ remaster would include improved graphics, gameplay elements, and more accessibility features among other things. The Last of Usfirst came out as a PlayStation 3 exclusive in June 2013 whereasThe Last of Us Part IIhad a more recent release date of June 2020 and was made for the PlayStation 4. Naughty Dog has stated thatthe reason behind makingThe Last of Us Part Iwas so that players could play both the first and second games without too many graphical or technical differences between them.
WhileThe Last of Us Part I’sSeptember 2, 2022 release on the PlayStation 5 made good use of the new console’s capabilities, there has been little to no news about the PC port. This includes but is not limited to the port’s various settings, graphical options, system requirements, and most importantly, the release date. Though the idea ofexperiencing Joel and Ellie’s first adventure togetherdefinitively will excite PC players, there seems to be little to be excited for considering the available information on the port.

Sony And Naughty Dog Should Strike While The Iron Is Hot
With the release of HBO’sThe Last of Usa little more than a month away, more people will be interested inthe world and story Naughty Dog has created. This doesn’t just include gamers who haven’t playedThe Last of Ustitles but also those who don’t play games in general. Video games have changed a lot in the past few decades, and those with little to no knowledge of the medium might be surprised to see how it has evolved to tell stories that are just as compelling (if not more so) than the ones found in television or movies.
ReleasingThe Last of Us Part Ion PC around the same time the HBO series airs wouldn’t just increase sales for the game, but it would also make people interested to watch the drama series. Those who have played the games will want to see how the HBO series stacks up to the source material, while those who have only seen the drama will want to see how such a serious and heartfelt story stemmed from a video game. Regardless of whether the drama series is good, people will still be able to experience a great video game on more platforms (that isunless the PC port ofThe Last of Us Part Idoesn’t turn out well).
The Last of UsHBO series premieres on August 03, 2025.
