Fortunately,Far Cry 6will feature the co-op experience fromFar Cry 5. Ubisoft confirmed the news, alongside otherFar Cry 6gameplay and story detailsin a recent Reddit AMA.Far Cry 6’sco-op will work similarly to the tethering system fromFar Cry 5, making the entire campaign fully playable in the co-op. Game director Alex Letendre explained thatFar Cry 6’sco-op mode is “simple and easy to play with friends,” and that they will have more to show soon.
Far Cry 5’sdrop-in and drop-out co-op systemwas restricted to friends, meaning that players could not randomly pair up with a stranger.Far Cry 6seems like it won’t be addressing this issue and keep co-op restricted to one’s friends list. Although not confirmed,Far Cry 6could also be retaining the co-op progression system fromFar Cry 5. As many would recall, the invited player could only carry over the cash, guns, and perks earned in the co-op and not the mission progression.
Far Cry 5players who enjoyed the co-op should have a lot to look forward to inFar Cry 6. The tropical, politically intertwinedopen-world of Yarawould provide players a lot of opportunities to cause mayhem. Fan-favorite traversal tools like the winged suit and grappling hook will be returning alongside the addition of the new Fuego backpack that should make traversal alot more fun in co-op.
Far Cry 6also has the largest arsenal of weapons in anyFar Crygame, with its new “resolver” system allowing players to craft unique and powerful weapons from mundane objects. With such a vast and varied selection of weapons and a mix of urban and rural locales to try them out,Far Cry 6should be a blast to play through in co-op.
