After players bring Hiccup Grass to the Merchant, who is located in a yard south of the Dead Horse tavern, he’ll lose his sense of taste. Alarmed, he’ll impart a story about how he was cursed and needs a witch to help him cure his affliction. All he can tell the player is that old witch Clotho is somewhere out in the Swamp.

In order to reach the swamp, it’s necessary to repair the bridge that leads west across the river. This requires one wooden plank, four pieces of flitch, and eight nails.
